New Virginia Poll Shows the Race Clarifying
Red State ^ | February 16, 2016 | Leon H. Wolf

Posted on 02/16/2016 10:15:38 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

A new poll has been released for the State of Virginia, and it confirms a lot of the conventional wisdom about how the race is shaping up. Virginia is a Super Tuesday state and is probably a pretty good representation of how many of the Southern Super Tuesday states are thinking right now.

On the Democrat side, Hillary leads Bernie Sanders, but by less than you would expect, at 52%-40%. You would think that, of the Southern states, Virginia might be especially friendly territory to Hillary, given that one of her stooges is Governor and given the increasingly high number of DC expats who make up the Democratic base there, but Bernie is showing surprising strength.

On the Republican side, the result confirms the conventional wisdom that, outside of the early voting states, this is becoming a three-man race between Trump, Cruz, and Rubio, with Rubio ascending. The top line result shows Trump at 28%, Rubio at 22%, and Cruz at 19%. The rest of the pack is rapidly fading, with Jeb Bush and John Kasich both at 7%, and Carson at 4%.

This is the first time Virginia has been polled since November, when Carson led Trump 29-24. This poll illustrates the importance for Jeb, Kasich, and Carson to get some kind of surprisingly good result in either South Carolina or Nevada, or face being washed away on Super Tuesday. Given yesterday's polling in South Carolina, there's little chance that occurs.

The field is being winnowed before our eyes. The actual voting in South Carolina and Nevada will probably put an official nail in the coffins of everyone not named Trump, Cruz, or Rubio.

Looks like we get Rubio :-(

Trump is playing spoiler again to the most conservative person we have this year.

Once Kasich and Yeb drop out Rubio takes the lead.

Cruz can’t even out poll Rubio in VA and barely beats Jeb in SC. But, he’s the best candidate to beat Hillary. LOL!!!

I do feel Super Tuesday is pretty much do or die for any establishment candidate, if they exit Super Tuesday with no clear cut frontrunner among that group, then odds start getting very long at taking out Trump with plurality.

John Kasich both at 7%,

I told my husband, after NH primary, that John Kasich just had the best night he is going to have this election primary season.

I think they will hang on as long as they can to water down Trump’s and Cruz’s #s, then hope for a convention fight.

Rubio’s number one problem is the fact that he betrayed all he ever met:

He betrayed his friend, Jeb Bush, who supported him morally and sent him a check even, in his FL congressional and senatorial, state and federal endeavors.

He betrayed the TEA party, who worked avidly to make him Senator of FL, instantly, as soon as he saw the big columns in DC.

He betrayed legal Americans and America with his Gang of Eight.

He still betrays the two, above, when he speaks in Spanish to Jorge Ramos and tells 180 degrees different on amnesty, saying in Spanish that he’ll “keep president Obama’s amnesty deal”, but tells the viewers in English that he wouldn’t.

He betrayed all the FL residents by being absent from DC and not performing his senatorial duties, in pursuit of yet another position.

He never has staying power for more than a few months, after he wins any position.

The media all call him an “establishment insider candidate”. He ran for the senate as an outsider, in the TEA party, and was a total deceiver as soon as he hit DC.

He is, in simple words, Benedicto Arnold to all he ever met, depending on what his incredible political ambitions are.

His second biggest problem is inexperience in the real world.

He has never produced or built anything. He was a lawyer for a very brief time. Other than that he has never even run a taco stand.

My state of Virginia went over to the dark side long ago due influence of the government in Northern VA. They outnumber the rest of the state. We can win Local elections (ie. general assembly), but not nationally. I would be surprised if Virginia ever voted R again in the general..sad

Perfection is illusory. I don’t want a Shiite Conservative. Nor an emasculated conservative.

I want someone who can save the country and will fight to do it.
