The Marco Rubio campaign is livid Thursday after the Ted Cruz campaign released a website that includes a photoshopped image of their candidate shaking hands with President Barack Obama.
Cruz’s website “The Real Rubio Record” ironically features a very unreal image of Rubio smiling ecstatically while shaking Obama’s hand. “The Rubio-Obama Trade Pact” the text ominously reads, a reference to Rubio’s support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership. The Cruz website also features a photoshopped image of Rubio smiling while leaning on a business sign reading “Closed.”
Among the red flags that the image is fake… who shakes with their left hand? Certainly not the right-handed Rubio.
The Rubio campaign was predictably less than amused. “This is how phony and deceitful the Cruz campaign has become,” Rubio advisor Todd Harris told a gaggle of reporters in South Carolina, while holding up the image in question.
The pushback comes after Cruz faced criticism for what his opponents termed “dirty tricks” in Iowa. In particular, Cruz was criticized for pointing out an official-looking flyer telling voters they faced a “voter violation” unless they voted for him, and for telling supporters to spread a rumor that Ben Carson was dropping out of the race.
UPDATE (11:13 AM): The Cruz campaign doubled down, telling CNN that they believe the image is authentic.

Actually what Cruz does matters because he supposedly was “the only principled candidate in the race”. I guess that meant about as much as the title of his book “A Time For Truth”. I bought it, what a farce he’s turned out to be with the lies, misrepresentations, big money donors, and status quo gutter politics like IA.

What is not real is the one that looks fake... but it was not the photo this article first purports as fake.
This is a fake picture, but it does not invalidate that the first picture is NOT FAKE. See image below.

I never thought I’d see the day when we have Freepers so unintelligent to distinguish between a real photo and one meant to send an image. Here class here is your first lesson in imagery politics 101. First step is to......do you seriously need me to break this down as on a 5th grade level? The image speaks a othousand words and all hold to be true about Rubio. However in defense on the GOPe we have without fail the Trump cadre (Trump far left of even Romney) out to defend senior Rubio.

What conservative’s words? That Cruz was “the only principled candidate in the race”?? After IA and all the lies and misrepresentations what a joke that is. So ironic the title of his book is “A Time For Truth”. I bought it and feel very ripped off.
If there are those not intelligent enough to distinguish between a photoshopped picture and the message it is trying to convey and a real one then we haven’t come that far since 2012 and the population that doesn’t understand what this picture is trying to convey truly doesn’t deserve to vote.
They are the people I continue supporting through my tax dollars
RE: Free Republic has been taken over by left wingers/moderates. It is no longer the conservative web site it once was. It is no longer about thought out ideas, but has been reduced to a name calling, cuss word using anti God forum.

Also, he doesn't know how to distinguish the purely nasty from what might be politically relevant. It's no surprise he went to Hollywood to produce trash.

A little over the top. But I think in a primary you have to fight for your nominee. What is the point in being on a political site if you don’t? The general will be very different. I will be slamming Bernie or Hillary. I hope we all will be.

Yep!...it’s a mess here....if you’re not thumping someone else you’re getting thumped......However once I saw what was happening here clearly I gave fair warning I would no longer sit back and watch these people tear into a man they know is a good man...he hasn’t changed they have.
