Beck needs to lose weight, so a fast might do him some good.

I never saw the 13 hours thing. But I've never seen Hillary behind the scenes, either.

And you won't. Most politicians are smart enough not to release their "bloopers" videos. Why Cruz's people thought this was a good idea, who the hell knows.

Just . . . go . . . away.

I said that he would be an albatross on Cruz when he joined his tour. Seems like it is now all about Beck and Cruz is a mere backdrop in his act.

This will probably be enough to sink Cruz. So much for his brilliance.

Do Mormons fast?
What next Glenn, hold your breath until you turn blue for Cruz?

I don’t generally get into scripture discussions, but I do know the one that says make your sacrifices and donations private; that those who boast about their deeds do not make them sincerely. I know I got that wrong, but that’s the jist of it.

The biggest blunder by the Cruz campaign was inviting Beck in. Totally screwed up his chances. Sometimes ones hindsight is better than ones foresight.

About the time Beck hit Cruz with his endorsement is the time Cruz started heading to the bottom.

Glenn beck can go ‘fast’ all the live long day, but please don’t forget all those stomach-turning anti-depressants that he needs to consume.

I’m surprised Beck didn’t hurt Cruz more in Iowa. I believe that evened up in South Carolina.

Mormons donate the money equivalent of the food they would have eaten to help the poor and needy

I'm pretty slow at making the Fast Offering

I wonder if Beck will use the Deacons Quorum kids to make the collections.

One of the few comments I agree with what the pundits say about SC being a state tailored made for Cruz is spot on. Trump went into his den and killed the lion. If Cruz can’t win in SC then the rest of the South for him is certainly not a given he will win or even place second as SC has shown. Have a nice day.

Some thoughts....Cruz and his advisers need to think long and hard how they've been branding Ted.

Trump speaks of how these candidates spend millions on pollsters and handlers on how to package themselves. Cruz has his own billionaire data mining guru, Robert Mercer, who supposedly has it down to a science, building "psychographic profiles" of potential voters. Another aspect of Creepy Ted Cruz.

Isn’t fasting to be done privately? Like between you and God? Like not used as a political campaign ploy?

Just wondering.

I agree.

I’m not sure this is an instance that God intended for fasting. JMO.

I identify as a Christian. Why would I not want a Christian? Ted is a natural fit. Then again, no he is not.

I like Carson as a human. He’s a good man. He still comes off as a man that would have moral conflict doing what would be needed to defend this nation. He’s just too laid back and I fear confliction of morals if he is called upon to be ruthless in a time of conflict.

In a social setting, does anyone really appreciate the holier than thou persona? Enter Ted Cruz, the man on a mission from God Himself. I should be drawn to this guy, but I am not. It doesn’t help that I see him as deceitful. Then you add to that the Glenn Beck factor.

Fasting is ok. It’s a way of purifying or cleansing of your body if done in accordance with a healthy lifestyle. I have no problem with it per se, but here’s where it gets dicey. Ted is already seen by some folks as too preachy. People are touchy about that because they see some flaws in Ted. He actually needs to back off the mission from God part of this. Just be the good man you want folks to think you are Ted.

So here’s Ted needing to back off the Elmer Gantry mode, and in steps Beck to tie Ted to the proverbial stake for the executioner. The it’s a movement factor for Ted then instantly become a religious crusade. That is precisely the wrong thing at the wrong moment.

Beck, already a big negative for Ted just multiplied that by a factor of ten.

The only thing Beck could do more now to hurt Ted would be to talk him into a public anointing.

Then Ted could just put on the Jesus type robes and look for some money changers...

Not good Ted.

Hitching your wagon to Beck was like lashing yourself to a tree on a cliff about to go over.

Ba bye...

Thanks for the thread. I am needing to gauge how much contempt and mockery of religion is going to be tolerated here. (and spare me the “Mormons are not Christians”...I get that. Prayer and fasting is something he HAS borrowed from the Christian tradition.)

As the campaigning season goes on, I find myself less and less “like minded” with more and more posters.

And I never saw it coming. Makes me sad.

This is what Beck said in the article:

[Beck also stated that “if the country is lost, it will be lost because of the Christians” who did not support Cruz. “There will be no one else to blame,” he added. “You can’t blame the progressives. You can’t blame the left. You can’t blame Hillary Clinton. You can’t blame anyone else but the Christians who are not living and voting their principles.”

This man needs to be committed immediately.

Really? I didn’t realize Teddy was only 5 foot 8. Heck, get him a ukelele so he can sing songs about tiptoeing through tulips.
