You don’t slam dunk someone with whom you are going to do business with unless it is absolutely necessary. For example, unless it is absolutely essential, one does not call the Senate Majority Leader a liar on the Senate Floor.

I disagree and LOVE the fact that Cruz exposed the snake, McConnell - especially because Cruz was taking such grief for his vote because he trusted McConnell and he needed to explain or be painted as a traitor.

McConnell told Cruz there was no deal between him and the Democrats to sneak reauthorization of the Export-Import bank, which conservatives had succeeded in getting shut down, into an unrelated piece of legislation. As we all know, McConnell is a liar and a deciever because he did just that by slipping the Ex-Im bank into another bill, thanks to Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk’s help.

Trump would do well to stop calling Cruz a liar and a p*ssy. He may need him someday too.

So what did Cruz accomplish besides making you feel good about a oral smack down? Did Ted actually stop the re-authorization of the Ex-Im Bank? No he didn’t. He would have needed to build a coalition of enough Senators in the Republican Party to do that. Instead, he grandstanded his opposition so that people would think he was tough and vote for him when he ran for President.

You are being suckered, again, by a young, clean, articulate first-term Senator who gives good speeches.

You need to keep up. BECAUSE McConnell LIED to Cruz when he questioned him about the re-authorization, he voted FOR the bill. Why would Cruz have needed to build a coalition with anyone since it wasn't until he discovered AFTER it passed that McConnell had lied to him so that he would vote for it! Like I said, keep up.

And there are still dummy Trump followers that continue to blame Cruz for voting for it - or for calling McConnell a liar (take your pick)

. You are being suckered, again, by a young, clean, articulate first-term Senator who gives good speeches.

So glad you mentioned Cruz is clean. Is that you, Biden?

If you look deeper into the story of that vote, you will find that a Cruz staffer said to him that McConnell was lying. Cruz replied that he knew that, and then and voted for the bill anyway. So what does that tell you? He could have voted against the bill, and said he didn’t believe McConnell’s promise, but he didn’t.

You are WRONG AGAIN. Cruz never said that he KNEW McConnell was lying to him. What made Cruz so furious is that McConnell lied to his face after Cruz ask him specifically about it.

Well, I got it a little wrong. Ted says he didn’t believe his staff when they told him McConnell was lying. Sort of like when he did believe CNN about Carson quitting the race. With this pattern, we can look forward to more blame shifting for missteps.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said he didn’t quite believe his office when they told him Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was “lying” when he assured Congress he would oppose the Export-Import Bank. Well, on Thursday, Cruz realized his staff had spot on intuition. Speaking for 20 minutes on the Senate floor, Cruz let the Majority Leader know he was very disappointed in his breaking his “explicit promise” not to support Ex-Im and file an amendment to reauthorize it with the passage of a transportation bill.
