Maria Lemusâ teenage son used to love soccer. He used to have friends. He used to be a normal kid.But since he became a victim of Ethan Couchâs drunken driving, 18-year-old Sergio Molina has been paralyzed and requires around-the-clock care. He can communicate only by blinking. âPeople say we have to die to go to hell,â his mother said. âTo me, Iâve already been there.â Lemus spoke briefly about her familyâs experience from her front door step Saturday, a day after attending a court hearing where a judge transferred Couchâs case to adult court.

Is there a father around, or the father’s family? THEY might be of some help.
What a horrible situation. My heart goes out to this woman and her family. Unfortunately, she’ll never get back what she has lost.
Mother is a nut job, dad has criminal history.
Tarrant County = Dallas/Ft. Worth
That is my reaction as well. I can’t imagine the anguish.
Sometimes, there are just no words.
In my neck of the woods, retired judges sometimes hear cases, on a part-time basis. I wonder if this piece of work will be doing the same.
And I sure wish someone would quietly do a check of her finances. Because I wouldn't be surprised if lots of money changed hands here.
Hard to explain such a ludicrous decision/sentence.
Judge Boyd should be in prison when they find out she’s been on the take.
My son was hit and killed by a Mexican yardman. Illegal? Who knows, but he wasn’t rich and nothing happened to him. Drunk? Who knows, they didn’t check him. Who ran the red light? He said my son did, witnesses said my son didn’t.
Unfortunately, she might have saved her family grief if she had told her under aged son he couldn’t go out until all hours drinking and driving. While a kid shouldn’t have his life squashed at such a young age, he maintains responsibility in the accident and his paralysis. If he hadn’t gone out, perhaps they wouldn’t have stolen beer from Walmart and Couch wouldn’t have been on the road with both of them and 5 other kids drunk and the other people wouldn’t have been killed. The mama knew full well that Couch had a DWI and how many times has Sergio come home in the middle of the night drunk.
Hugs.
Gee Maria, maybe you should have had him at home that night rather than letting him cruise around in the bed of the bed of a pick-up truck.
Surely, you knew the character of Ethan Couch. Or maybe you didn’t but you should have.
Most of us are in a hell of our own making. Deal with it.
Interesting....didn’t know that part of the story. Thanks.
Thanks. It has been a long time, ‘84 but some times it is like it was last week.
Nor will her son.
Tragic.
