Chicago Sun Times ^ | February 22, 2016 | Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL)

Posted on 02/22/2016 12:37:28 PM PST by C19fan

As the paramedic held my hand, I worried that might be the last human I would ever touch. I was 52 years old and in the middle of a severe stroke. The ambulance ride that day flashed by as I focused on that paramedic and my hand, all the while my stroke intensified.

More than a week later, I regained consciousness only to face more surgeries and a long, grueling regimen of rehabilitation.

BARF. Justice Breyer was sold as a "moderate" but he is just as reliable vote as any of the other three Leftists on the court.

and that has worked out so great in the past for the Constitution.

Frigging idiots, these people don’t live in the real world.

I do not want a Supreme Court Justice to bridge differences, to represent diversity, or to protect the disadvantaged. I don’t even want a Justice who agrees with my personal preferences on issues. I want a justice who will protect the Constitution of the United States and interpret it in the most natural, literal interpretation, based on the meanings of the words at the time the Constitution and its Amendments were written. I want a justice who will keep his word after taking an oath to do what I have just advocated:

“I, _________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as _________ under the Constitution and laws of the United States; and that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

Translation: Scalia replacement must destroy— dare I say infringe?— the right to keep and bear arms.

It is the way it’s always been and our side has still not woken up yet to it.

Fine. Obama should nominate Ted Cruz.

The Senate Democrats will vote for the nomination because they will all vote for whoever the hell Obama nominates. The Senate Republicans will vote for the nomination because most of them want him out of the Senate.

Bridge that.

Yet, Breyer is probably better than any future Supreme Court nominee.

Exactly. Unfortunately, he’s about the least worst they can possibly elect in the People’s Republic of Illinois these days.

BS!!!!!!!!!!!

The next justice should be like all justices should be. And this is that they should be strict defenders of constitutional law. In other words- The Law. No political activists.

Brilliant! Of course, if they don’t want him there for the next 30 years or so, then there is always a mushball like Orin Hatch.

"Bridge Differences"???

Does that even mean anything?

The new SC Justice must recognize that the Constitution means what it means, and that written laws mean what they mean, and that he doesn't have the authority to re-write them.

“Sen. Mark Kirk: Scalia replacement must ‘bridge differences’”

Great, so Kirk wants a politician on the court rather than a conservative jurist.Don’t we already have enough politicians on the left side of the court who are an extension of congressional Democrats enforcing and extending Democrat policies.
