The Chinese news media covered President Xi Jinping's most recent public appearances with the adulation befitting a demigod.
Front-page headlines across the nation trumpeted Mr. Xi's visits to the headquarters of the three main Communist Party and state news organizations on Friday. Photographs showed fawning journalists crowding around Mr. Xi, who sat at an anchor's desk on a television stage. One media official wrote the president an adoring poem.
The blanket coverage reflected the brazen and far-reaching media policy announced by Mr. Xi on his choreographed tour: The Chinese news media exists to serve as a propaganda tool for the Communist Party, and it must pledge its fealty to Mr. Xi.
Though the party has been tightening its control over the media since Mr. Xi became the top leader in late 2012, the new policy removes any doubt that in the president's view, the media should be first and foremost a party mouthpiece.
Mr. Xi wants to push the party's message domestically -- and internationally -- across all media platforms, including advertising and entertainment.

Obama issued a similar proclamation years ago and the media has faithfully followed it. The mainstream media is the propaganda arm of the DNC and Obama.
Just as our media has slavishly supported every Democrat president.
So it’s like our media, then.
We have the same system here, but no one admits it.

China’s Xi Jinping is making a mistake by saying the media must serve the communist party, instead of telling the honest truth. Party dogma won’t get China out of its economic difficulties.
Economies run best when people and businesses buy, sell and trade based on goods for value at prices where both sides of the deal get value. Honest media reports of business products or resource production helps all.
Governments lead best when those in government get and keep their jobs on merit and performance. An honest, free media helps government by reporting problems or failures of government plans or office holders, as well as successes.
And our media do it without being told!
