Negligent in Nevada?
The National Review ^ | February 24, 2016 | Tim Alberta

Posted on 02/24/2016 1:14:25 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Reports from Nevada tonight have indicated potential administrative failures at caucus locations around the state, which threaten to further marginalize its role in the Republican nominating process. The most damning allegations are that precinct officials failed to properly certify voters, and that because of it some participants were voting twice.

There also is outrage over the fact that at one location, a precinct official was wearing pro-Donald Trump gear.

It's important to note that caucuses, unlike primaries, are party-run affairs without governmental oversight. They are administered by the state party and the Republican National Committee, neither of which enforce a dress-code for local officials. So while it may be unprofessional for a vote-counter at a caucus site to wear Trump garb, it's not in violation of any rules or laws.

The other allegations, however, are significant - and sufficiently widespread that campaigns could challenge the validity of certain precinct results. These observations, shared on social media by caucus participants, campaign representatives, and a number of respected national reporters on the scene, are hugely problematic for a state party that was already in danger of losing its special "carve-out" status on the primary calendar.

Even if nothing comes of a potential challenge to the results in Nevada, the outcome of the caucuses is likely to be accompanied by an asterisk for many in the media and the national party. Asked for comment on the controversy unfolding in Nevada, an RNC official referred to a tweet from the state party:

Nevada GOP @NVGOP - There have been no official reports of voting irregularities or violations. #nvgopcaucus

Ironically, the Nevada GOP is widely viewed by RNC officials as their most dysfunctional and incompetent state party. It's a major reason why Reince Priebus's committee was already determined - before Tuesday's chaos - to strip Nevada of its early-state status in 2020 and beyond, as I reported last month:

>>>It's a foregone conclusion inside the RNC that Nevada will lose the No. 4 spot barring miraculous turnout in its February 23 caucuses. The Silver State, which has been plagued by poor showings in recent cycles - the state party was embarrassed when fewer than 33,000 people showed up to caucus in 2012 - will probably be replaced by either Arizona or Colorado, which GOP leaders say have stable party infrastructures to go with their similarly diverse populations.<<<

Whatever chance Nevada had of holding onto its privileged position on the GOP primary calendar likely went out the window Tuesday night."

Three takeaways from Nevada:

1. The numbers. Compare what Trump got to what Hillary got. Trump will cream Hillary in the general.

2. The difference between the speeches: Trump v Cruz. Trump was great. Cruz was truly pathetic. Please watch for yourself and compare.

3. The psychological derangement of the anti-Trump posters in FR is reaching dangerous levels. I am starting to worry for the safety of their families.

I was checking for that but have only found Trump and Rubio items mentioned so far (and only once for Rubio). Do you remember where you read or saw that? Thank you for the information.

It’s a terrible idea, no matter who is wearing their political favorites items. I don’t think it’s allowed at Florida polls. Of course, I don’t think the Republican Party should be in the caucus business either. Voter turnout is higher in a primary from what I’ve read.

I wish.

Thanks for the compliment.

But no, I am nowhere near his level.

BTW, CW, I have asked you before but I believe you did not answer:

Who do you support in this campaign? Or do you just engage in slinging mud at Trump for its own sake? Like a satanic cult ritual.

Has Dr. Carson made a statement about the dirty tricks by the Trump campaign in Nevada?

Funny how there was so little concern for fraud on the dem side in 2008 and 2012...

It is not allowed in Florida to have any campaign gear within 100’ of the entrance of any precinct. But then to conflate the rules of a voting precinct in any other state to a caucus is another apples and oranges argument. Am I not wrong that anyone can go into them with any gear supporting their candidate? How in the world do they gather into groups without any identifiers? Remember, they all make their pitches inside the caucus gatherings before they vote. Only those arriving by a certain time are allowed in to vote. By the time they vote, virtually everyone knows who was pimping who.

This is why for the rest of the primary season and much more important, for the general in early, got to have citizens monitor the polling places to prevent possible voter fraud.

Bill Clinton Called Donald Trump Shortly Before Billionaire Announced His Presidential Bid

"Several weeks before Donald Trump announced his presidential candidacy, he received a phone call from former president Bill Clinton at his office in Trump Tower in Manhattan. While Clinton reportedly did not urge Trump to run for president during the conversation, he [told] the real estate billionaire that he should take a more prominent role within the Republican party and that he was tapping into a vein of frustration among GOP voters.".....

So... Democrats are engaged in the kind of political theater they always engage in, to “show” people that the chosen conservative candidate has less curb appeal than Hitler?

That’s something like Dan Rather’s fake but accurate. People should just laugh that stuff off; liberals always resort to immature tricks when they don’t get their way.

All these anti-Trump stories & yet, Trump keeps winning by larger numbers.

Appreciate the humor your endless stream of anti-Trump posts brings.

Good luck trying to get an answer from it! Just be glad it does not support Trump! I knew this win would be huge but even if am surprised by just how Yuge! Now I am hearing “dead man walking” which is what I have been saying about Cruz for quite some time now!

This is a caucus. If you are not manipulating, aggressive and being deceptive from a political POV, then you are not trying.

I do not say this regarding Trump or the topic of this thread; again this is a caucus. What else do you expect?
