“Sullivan says...’except when the statement is made with actual malice...’”

Are malicious, obnoxious, left-leaning writers of newspaper articles exempt from being considered malicious, even though they are in fact malicious?

Are the concepts of libel negated because of the First Amendment?

Just asking.

I’m not an attorney, much less a Constitutional one, so I can’t answer that.

As a rational man (I don’t care what they say, LoL), it stands to reason you shouldn’t be able to publish/air/post false information about someone, particularly in a time when the public is trying to make up their mind if they are worthy of their vote or not.

This isn’t just a loss for the candidate, but a loss for those who might have supported him, and for the nation as a whole. So it is a big deal when the media lies.
