But Ferguson took his admonishment a step further, questioning Trump’s financial commitment to the party and claiming that Trump has "given more money to Democratic candidates than Republican candidates."

Public records show that the real estate tycoon has actually contributed around $350,000 more to Republicans at the state and federal level than Democrats. That, however, is a recent development: Since 2012, Trump has donated $463,450 to Republicans and just $3,500 to Democrats.

Ferguson’s statement contains an element of truth but ignores critical facts. We rate it Mostly False.

It's a well known fact, but it proves nothing. What it proves is that yes he greased hands because you have to in business. It's a reality. My point was, how many of these donors supporting Cruz have themselves supported liberal Democratic candidates? They may be as guilty as Trump in that respect. Bottom line, is it doesn't really matter to me. But if you think this does not give these donors influence over Cruz, think again. Support comes with strings attached. Cruz is a realist and knows he needs their support. What we don't know is what concessions will he have to make down the road as the payback for their support.

To put it another way, Ted Cruz is not as pure as the driven white snow either.
