George Kennedy, star of "Cool Hand Luke" and the 'Naked Gun' movies, has died at the age of 91 ... TMZ has learned.
George's grandson Cory Schenkel says Kennedy died Sunday morning at 4:30 AM in Boise, ID. He says his grandfather had been in failing health ever since his wife Joan died a little over a year ago. George had been under hospice care for the past month.
Kennedy won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 1968 for "Cool Hand Luke." He also starred in all 3 of the 'Naked Gun' flicks, "Airport 1975," "Earthquake" and many many more.

Great actor!
RIP, George.
Thanks for the memories, George. RIP.
He WAS Dragline.
RIP, friend.
“Puttin’ on my wings, Boss!”
“OK, Dragline, put ‘em on.”
Cause of death: Eating 50 hard-boiled eggs in less than an hour.
That was one hard-working guy. He certainly did not sit around on the couch waiting for anyone to send him a check.
RIP.
He was a great actor. Rest in peace, Mr. Kennedy.
Awe...damn.
Loved George. Been watching some older movies with him in them. Always had those same mannerisms with his eyes and head when he spoke.
Cool Hand Luke and his westerns are what I remember him in. Never saw a “naked gun” or “airplane” movie for that matter. Although I guess those would be more recent and popular.
Did he ever play a “good guy” in those westerns!?
Only one?
He was good in The Eiger Sanction (1975) with Eastwood and in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974) with Eastwood and Jeff Bridges.
Would heartily recommend Lonely Are The Brave. Kennedy plays a rather sadistic sheriff's deputy. Also stars Kirk Douglas, Walter Matthau and Carol O'Connor.

He was a great actor I remember him from Thunderbolt and Lightfoot with Clint Eastwood. George played a very mean “bad guy” to perfection in it.
I remember him most for the seasons he spent on “Dallas,” as well as “Earthquake.” Sad, but - hey, he made it to 91. That’s not too bad :-)

No, that’s what killed Paul Newman.
Won an Oscar for Airport! Lovely in Cool Hand Luke! In so many war movies in the 60s and 70s. He started out as a technical advisor on Bilko - and as an occasional extra.
RIP!
