Republican Combat Vet: Trump Is Openly Advocating War Crimes
Buzz Feed ^ | 03/04/2016 | Christopher Massie

Posted on 03/04/2016 9:25:06 AM PST by SeekAndFind

Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, a former Air Force pilot who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, said on Thursday that Donald Trump is openly advocating war crimes that would cause the soldiers who obeyed his orders to be jailed.

“If you’re a private in the field and your major or your colonel orders you to do something that is a war crime, you actually bear responsibility, you can’t say that the colonel made me do it,” said Kinzinger, who is supporting Marco Rubio. “What Donald Trump, as wanting to be president of the United States is advocating, is a war crime that would force every soldier that did, i.e. killed the relatives of terrorists, tortured regardless of whether it not it works, the things that he’s advocating would force all of these people in jail.”

Speaking on the Steve Cochran Show on Chicago radio, Kinzinger argued that Trump was either “all bluster” or comparable to Italian fascist dictator Benito Mussolini.

“Now, you have to do one of two things,” he said. “You either believe that Donald trump is all bluster which most people do but for some reason they like that, or you take him at his word in which case he is advocating, like what Benito Mussolini did, war crimes.”

Kinzinger also said that what Trump was calling for “makes me sick.”

“For the leading Republican presidential candidate to advocate war crimes, which he does openly, just advocates war crimes, doesn’t matter, makes me sick really,” he said. “Especially as somebody that’s defended the country. It’s just terrible.”

Later in the interview, Kinzinger said, “I can’t see myself supporting Donald Trump. I never say definitively because who knows in the future. But I have no intention of supporting Donald Trump.”

As for his preferred candidate, Rubio, Kinzinger said he felt “pretty good” about the Florida senator’s chances of winning his home state’s primary, but that “I’d definitely rather be in Trump’s position politically.”

Your post, is, kinda nonsense. Trump didn’t say a thing about shooting anyone. Nada. And, if you are honest, you know that. Trump did say, a while back, we should hold the families, i.e. co-conspirators, accountable like the Israelis do. Bulldoze their home for example. What are you going to do with the family in San Bernadino allowing bomb making in the family home? Send them more food stamps and tanf checks?

I take great comfort in your discontent. Especially knowing a pussy like you would never say that to my face.

You "Holier than thou" "Conservatives" have nearly destroyed a once great party.

It's called Orthodox Conservatism...the bludgeon that has cowered Republicans for decades. But behind the curtain we find nothing but a dirty whore willing to traitorously sell out the country to the highest bidder.

As long as Orthodox Conservatism gets to skim off the top, they are willing to support treason.

Nice try, by conflating collateral damage with deliberate targeting of non-combatant family members is dishonest.

Before you accuse us of deliberately misrepresenting what Trump says for political thread, try rereading this thread from the beginning. You'll find a bunch of Trump supporters interpreting it exactly the same way, but celebrating the specific targeting of family members.

Go read post 143, and try not to throw up.

Is there another republican running against this rectum?

If so please post a link to their site.

I just donated yesterday to McAinal’s foe in Arizona.

Please read what one of his supporters said in post 143. She is interpreting his statements the same as the rest of us, and she is not alone. She just sees the morality a bit different from those of us she’d expect to pull those triggers.

I voted for Cruz on Super Tuesday.

I have felt this way since 911, it has nothing to do with who I support, though I agree with Trump.

I certainly would not want ground troops to go in and shoot the families (pull the trigger)because I think it is too much to ask. I'd settle for a targeted air strike on their tent.

. . .And the entire town of falluja ought to have been made into a giant piece of glass.

Apparently, killing the families of terrorists.

This is the first I have heard of Trump advocating that. But if he is, that would fall under criminal offenses in our military justice system. Even if the terrorists are enemy combatants, their parents, spouses and children are not.

"If you can't comprehend the moral and legal difference between causing collateral damage from an attack on legitimate military targets, and deliberately targeting civilian non-combatants simply because they are related to an enemy, then you really are no better than the terrorists themselves. "

History shows, without ANY doubt, that the US set out to destroy the cities of Dresden, Hiroshima and Nagasaki in order the break the will of the enemy.

They were not targeted military strikes, they were INTENDED to cause the maximum number of civilian causalities.

Your suggestion that those attacks were somehow legitimate war while the targeting of the families of terrorist combatants is not, is hypocrisy with an agenda.

Sounds more like Jack Bauer than Mussolini. I know guys who are traumatized by what they had to do under Obama as CIC. Listening g to afghanis raping boy all night for instance

Pulling out of Iraq after we won.
Living through Benghazi where the state department abandoned their personnel
Where is this guy on any of that? Strictly on the side if the invaders I mean amnesty doofuses like Rubio

People are done with them. They don’t want a war criminal in the White House

They see Rubio Romney McCain gowdy McConnell Ryan and anyone else who has done more to allow and enable war criminals and MB in the White House and state department allowing raids on our embassies, pulling out of territories where the enemy is going to be allowed to rape and behead the families, welcoming war criminals and their families into the rose garden for a victorious ceremony, releasing enemy combatants GENERALS from gitmo to go out and plan the killing of our American citizens families embassy folks.

We’d like to see what this pretend warrior has to say as spokesman for Rubio about the state department being run by a John Kerry who has done more to undermine our military efforts than most anti Vietnam war protester or what he has to say about anything this White House has done to defend us

What people would be advised to see is the reality of what is going on

They’ll be best prepared for what’s going to happen

Tell you what - why don't you volunteer to serve the prison sentence of any soldier that would follow such an order from the Donald...

What did he say last night? Something like, "I'll tell 'em what to do and they'll do it."

Trump is the as4&at.

Doesn't have a clue.

I guess you don't learn much about the UCMJ by getting 3 student and one medical deferments. I can hear him now: "Excuse me. Excuse me. I have a very, very huge learning curve ahead of me. Trust me - it'll be great! Believe me."

Also, 6'3" is relatively short. Just say'in.

Actually, I don't take Trump's statement to mean he'd deliberately single out and target family members.

In fact, the only groups I've seen documented proof of having done exactly that are the French in Algeria. I feel sure other Intelligence agencies do as well, they just don't get caught and the documentation hasn't come out other than documents that can be read a number of ways (of course, writing them that was has a purpose, so . . .).

Executing anyone who has surrendered is wrong as well as executing Granny. There is such a thing as the UCMJ and if you stick to that you're in good shape IMHo. The problem comes with air strikes being the primary weapon used. We've had cases where a high value target walked away when in the sights of a drone strike because there were family members around them as well as cases where we've blown up innocents to get a high value target. As long as we're going to use high explosives to do the job of snipers on the ground or in the air, we aren't going to meet the UCMJ standards.

That means, IMHo, that we shouldn't be places that aren't worth putting people on the ground over. We'd be a lot better off not relying on drones and high explosives which would mean we'd be fighting a war or we wouldn't instead of playing games with Intelligence community people who can choose whether to rely on a finding by the President or the UCMJ making decisions.

JMHo

I hold this up to the Trump endorsements from the two Special Ops guys.

Matter of opinion, just like the rest of us.

I keep hearing this.

What, exactly, has Trump said that would constitute "War Crimes"? By whose definition are they "war crimes"? The Geneva Convention? A new United Nations list of things to do and not do?

“He’s become so enamored of the military ROE’s where you can’t shoot the enemy that he thinks our soldiers are supposed to be social workers. He’s the kind of country club republican that makes me sick.”

This guy is up in a plane, he doesn’t see the carnage up close and personal like the Special Ops guys on the ground. Those guys are endorsing Trump.

“It’s assholes like this that I tell my boys not to join the military. I tell them that with people like this prick, you can’t tell whether the enemy is in front of you, or behind you within your own ranks.”

This particular asshole is flying high in the skies nowhere near the bloodshed.

I'm not sure why this is so difficult....

I sided with West. I side with waterboarding terrorists, and frankly, see absolutely no obligation to take prisoners at all. They are unlawful combatants who should be shot.

I draw the line at deliberately targeting noncombatants, which is different from if non-combatants are collateral damage in a strike aiming to kill combatants.
