The party elites do have an alternative to the populist Donald Trump: Unite behind the conservative Ted Cruz. If Rubio and Kasich get out of the race, there is a chance that Cruz can consolidate their supporters and pass Trump.

But time is running short even for that option. If Trump wins Michigan, Ohio, and Florida against a divided field over the next ten days, it will be too late even for that.

A conservative or a populist. Choose GOPe, or we will choose for you.

I am rank and file, & a local Tea Party founder. I’m sticking with Trump. that said, if somehow Trump failed I will be happy to shift to Cruz.
I do not buy Trump lying Ted line. Ted Cruz is great, probably the only real Patriot in the US Congress. Certainly one of very few.

Yeah, and pretty much all the rest that aren’t sticking with Trump are sticking with Cruz, so the establishment is nearly 100$ SOoL.

You could fool me. Trump was supposed to win Kansas by 6 to 12 points; he lost by 24. He was supposed to win Maine easily; he lost by 14. He won the early vote in Louisiana by 33 points and lost the election-day vote.

Looks like his support is cratering.
