How would a brokered GOP convention work?
Mar. 05, 2016 - 4:15 - Larry Sabato explains the process on 'Fox & Friends'
(Excerpt) Read more at video.foxnews.com ...
Want to see Cruz become the most hated man in the history of Republican leadership? He just has to hand the crown to Trump in exchange for the VP slot.
The GOP establishment would have nowhere to go and no recourse after that.
The GOPe does not want to win the White House; they are firmly embedded in congress, their family members employed either in federal jobs or as lobbyists. They know that should the GOP take the White House, the ‘fickle people’ will most likely give the House and Senate to Democrats (mostly as a measure of self defense from the ever expanding federal government.)
Why were they pushing Yeb!? Because he'd lose against Hillary OR Bernie. Why are they pushing Rubio? Because he'll lose against Hillary.
Nothing means more to them than keeping the status quo.
Our political leadership have been gelded by the embezzlement of public funds. There's just no getting them off of the worst form of welfare: payment for political service.
Let me tell you how I think a brokered convention would work. A delegate will be bought by the highest bidder. I assure you it will be for MONEY And it is not illegal. Most delegates will be corrupted for reimbursed expenses but some will vote for that and up to $5000. Who do you think will play that game successfully? Trump? Be careful what you wish for RINO!! At 2:01 in the video Trump talks about the establishment plan to possibly run a 3rd party and what it would mean. “Trump would lose and Hillary would win. Hillary would appoint 3, 4 or 5 liberal SC judges.”

I know everything is still in flux, but does anyone have a provisional updated delegate count?
Cruz won’t do it ..while we have been busy debating against each other, the GOPe was busy buying Cruz into staying in the race to weaken Trump for the convention ...Robots’s wife calling Cruz’s wife is proof of this... the Cruz and Robot tag teaming and backslapping against Trump is further proof of this
Trump talked of the GOPe 3rd party run?
I wrote down some numbers from CNN. Trump has 384, Cruz has 296, Rubio has 123
Yes. He probably heard Sabato say what he did today on Fox and Friends! He is alerting everyone in advance.
290 Cruz to 385 Trump is a very rough count based on the current numbers
thank you. fascinating.
Google is showing
Trump 378
Cruz 295
Rubio 123
Kasich 34
I had a Robo call tonight with a vm saying Rubio will have a rally in Sanford some time in a few days.
Presidential primaries

Professor Sabato misses a key point in the way we elect a President. The people vote for slates of electors. The electors elect the president if 270 or more of them vote for one of the candidates. If not, the states elect the President from the top three who received votes in the Electoral College.
Let’s assume that Trump runs as a third party candidate and is as popular in NY, NJ, and CT as he claims he is and wins the slates of electors from those states. Those states combined have 50 electors which have gone to the Democrat since 1988.
Hillary will not receive 270 electors nor will the Republican nominee.
Then new Congress convenes on January 3, 2017, the electoral votes will be counted. The states in the House will each receive one vote to be cast only for the top three: Hillary, Trump, and the Republican.
Unless something drastic happens to change the make up of the House of Representatives, neither Hillary nor Trump will be able to muster 26 states, but the Republican candidate could.
Also, since no VP candidate would receive the required 270 votes, the Senate will choose from the top two VP candidates. Again, unless something happens to drastically change the composition of the Senate, the Republican candidate will receive at least 51 votes.
If the Republican and the Democrat candidates each receive 50 votes in the new Senate, VP Biden will vote for the Democrat candidate to break the tie—remember he will still be VP until noon on January 20, 2017.
How’s the I-4 corridor looking , signs and sticker wise ?
I suspect that a brokered convention would look to deny Cruz the nomination as well.
You’re absolutely right. If they got together and made the choice among themselves there isn’t a thing the establishment could do.
