Jewish Home MK: Annex Judea/Samaria, pay Arabs to emigrate

Deputy Speaker of the Knesset Bezalel Smotrich offered his alternative to the two-state solution during an interview with the Yisrael HaYom newspaper, arguing that Israel should annex Judea and Samaria and offer Arab residents in the area generous compensation packages to emigrate.

According to Smotrich’s plan, Israel would annex all of Judea and Samaria, including areas A, B, and C.

As for the demographic problem posed by adding those areas to the State of Israel, Smotrich proposes to give Arab residents three options. First, every Arab in the area would offered $100,000 to emigrate to the country of their choice.

For those who wish to remain, they would have the choice of either accepting permanent residency status, as was offered to Jerusalem’s Arab population when eastern portions of the city were annexed in 1967, or living under an autonomy arrangement. Under the latter, local Arabs would continue to manage their own affairs, while the land would be under Israeli sovereignty.

Smotrich emphasizes that his plan to encourage Arab emigration from Judea and Samaria would be completely voluntary.

I've been saying something similar for years, only I would oppose annexing Area A. The Arabs have already crapped it up. Let them have their little state there and shudup. I don't want to be responsible for it. I'd also give less as an incentive for exiting, more like the package that Jews get for immigrating, which is considerably less. And I'd also offer an option of citizenship, and only limited, highly conditional autonomy.

On the contrary. Significantly dissimilar. He’s for paying Palis 100,000 USD each to emigrate. When did Hitler make a similar offer?

I could be mistaken but I thought Arabs living in the parts of Jerusalem taken back in 1967 were offered citizenship. Permanent residency was the status for those who didn't apply for citizenship. I believe that offer is still open.

Definitely. And the number of applicants for citizenship went up when there was talk from the White Mosque of putting part of Jerusalem under PA jurisdiction. Thanks, Barry.

The more of them have to come back here in order to disrupt, the better. If most or even some Palis can be persuaded to leave voluntarily for cash, it should be tried.
