GOP establishment creeps toward Cruz

'Ted is the only possibility to stop Trump,' says a Bush loyalist.

Republican elites are begrudgingly embracing Ted Cruz—and hanging Marco Rubio out to dry.

Panicked at Donald Trump’s dominance and dismayed by Rubio’s continued inability to do anything about it, some top Republican power brokers are turning to Cruz, putting aside their policy and personal misgivings to back the candidate they now openly label as their best hope to stop Trump’s GOP takeover.

“He seems to be the only guy who’s got some momentum, and is probably the best situated if there is anybody out there to beat Trump,” said Austin Barbour, a prominent Mississippi-based GOP operative. “That’s why there are many people like me—Ted Cruz wouldn’t have been our first choice, but as we go through the process, we’re reevaluating our vote, and he seems to be the guy at the top of the list.”

“Most people now think Ted’s the best vehicle to defeat Trump,” said Charles C. Foster, a Bush family loyalist from Houston who served on Jeb Bush’s national finance team.

Divide conservatives and conquer them. Oldest GOP establishment trick in the book. And Ted Cruz is their willing tool to do it.

No.
Until Trump wins Fla and Ohio Cruz has a valid chance.

After that though his motives will be suspect.

At last the Establishment is showing a modicum of good judgment. They have certainly been dragged into like drug junkies who finally realize they have no choice but to sober up.

Cruz will make an excellent Vice President and an excellent President after Trump's first and second terms.

What’s left to divide? Jeb crashes, now Rubio nose dives, Kasich is on life support and now the GOPe is making noises about the only candidate left who is taking big GOPe donor money in addition to several PACs?

The mask is being ripped away along with the endless parade of half truths and outright lies to boot from the typical character assassination template of the GOPe operatives that run his campaign.

This week will be the defining line to expose them all. The Super PAC radio ads here in Florida are awful, steeped heavily in the template. I think people are finally starting to get wise to these ads and this too will backfire.

“GOP establishment creeps toward Cruz”

That is really something, the establishment republicans can stand Cruz, because Cruz is making them do what they said they would do to get elected. The establishment must really fear Trump.

Cruz needs to win more than 60% of all delegates in every state from here on out to secure the nomination.

No he isn’t. They can support Cruz if they want, but Cruz won’t support them, or their agenda.

Cruz supporters are so happy trading field goals for touchdowns. AKA winning states with more cows than people, like Idaho. I'm not buying Trump wins Ohio just yet, but I think a loss in Ohio and a bad trouncing in Florida should remove any doubt TC is done. I think Trump may be on the cusp of necessary delegates after the late April primaries. Despite the snarky and mostly nasty attacks by Cruz supporters they have yet to show a clear plan for victory. They are counting on Rubio dropping out next Wednesday, enemy of my enemy strategy. I welcome a mano e mano race, let's see if TC has what it takes to win in Illinois, Pa, Ca, Co.

He needs to win more delegates than anyone else.
It’s not likely but he still has a slim chance.

WOW

I encourage all Trumpers and Cruzers to read this article. You will see just how much the GOPe dislikes both these gentlemen.

Trump’s logical move: Crank up the birther stuff again.
Generate doubt in voters minds that Ted would actually be allowed to be sworn-in if he won.

Indeed is does come down to cheaper products. What people do not understand is that trade policy can be used by Washington to pick winners and losers just as mechanism such as TARRP, Stimulus packages and Clean Energy programs. I just read this morning a case where Mr. Trump supports cheaper products from Mexico over US manufacturers and JOBS. Donald Trump’s Mexican Imports

This is the first opportunity to finally do away with this nest of globalists. The period of their ascendancy and the “New World Order” is exactly congruent with our national decline. This family, and anyone bolstering them, must be swept out the door.
