Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) on Tuesday slammed the administration’s handover of $500 million to the U.N. Green Climate Fund, asking a State Department official how the “handout to foreign bureaucrats” could be justified at a time when there were “real problems” that need to be addressed at home.

Barrasso told Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources Heather Higginbottom he viewed the payment to the “new international climate change slush fund” — the first installment of a $3 billion pledge — as both a misuse of taxpayer dollars and a violation of legislation that prohibits federal agencies from spending federal funds in advance or in excess of an appropriation.

“It appears to be latest example of the administration going around Congress because the American people don’t really support what the president is doing with this initiative,” he said. …

Just another reason why we need to tie the US budget to the GDP, and set it at some level about 25-percent less than what it is today. Let the fools run less government with less money.

If you wouldn’t have sent them the money Senator, they wouldn’t have it to spend

This is shocking. Maybe that money to the U.N. is Obummer paying a “first installment” towards buying his way into the U.N.

Have never understood why any government agency, employee or department was allowed to have any money in a slush or petty cash fund. Budgets should only include the basics such as salaries and benefits and office supplies. All other expenses should be submitted for approval prior to commitment and spending. Should be no different than the budget we have for our company.

Such a procedure would slow down the process a whole lot but stop this foolishness and make all government agencies a lot more accountable.

‘If you wouldn’t have sent them the money Senator, they wouldn’t have it to spend

Barasso and a majority of Republicans did not approve the omnibus bill, which justified this action.

Thank Mitch, Ryan and the majority of Democrats who voted for the monstrosity that gave Obama a free pass to spend freely.

There it is. Just came here to see who the first Trump troll would be to bring Cruz into a non-Cruz tread.
Pathetic.

Since you decided to go off-topic, what could one senator do either way, even if not campaigning?

If I wanted to hear about either Cruz or Rubio, I would have gone to those threads, frankly.
