Cruz: I'm fine with contested convention
The Hill ^ | 03-09-2016 | Jesse Byrnes

Ted Cruz says he would have no problem with a contested convention over the summer in the event neither he nor Donald Trump secures enough delegates before then to lock up the Republican presidential nomination.

Trump suggested Wednesday morning on "Fox and Friends" that Cruz was making the statement "because he had such a bad night last night."

What makes you think I haven’t thought out my position?

They should go with whoever is in the lead, whether that is Trump or Cruz is fine.

What they should not do is pick someone who hasn’t even been involved in this process, such as Romney.

If the GOP picks anyone other than the person with the most delegates...war.

Hopefully I have provided enough thought on my position for you.

That is most certainly NOT what Cruz is talking about. Cruz will likely have all the delegates he needs by the time of the California primary.

Are you serious? What states is Cruz winning that gives him the nomination?

The best years of my life were when Reagan was POTUS.

You’re assuming that Trump will finish with the most delegates. That is a wholly unsupported supposition. Watching you eat crow will be fun.

Trump has ruined many in the field with his ‘kill shots’.

Will be tougher for the candidates to seek office. Too bad Carson did not run for Rubio’s senate seat , for example.

America does not want a heavy Bush influence anywhere near the White House.

No way.

What in the world is he supposed to say if neither one of them gets enough delegate before the convention? That’s what happens when no one has enough delegates.

There was reason for an outcry when it became clear that a contested convention was the establishment strategy to knock out Trump; that they were attacking him with that purpose.

Cruz did not say anything of the kind and he condemned the deliberate attempt to force a contested convention as well on Sunday.

CDS is really rampant today.

Yup, when everyone in the establishment hates you, and you call the leader of the Senate establishment a liar on the floor of the Senate, you are most certainly GOPe.

Whatever it takes....

No Cruz ever!

Then you had better cue up Home Box Office for Election day in November, because you won't be voting or watching the returns. Unless you go Democrat, of course.

This position seems to be at odds with where you started out. Unless you are suggesting that Cruz was supporting the Convention picking someone like Rick Perry, Rick Santorum or Mitt Romeny. Which he obviously was not. In fact, I think you position is identical with Cruz’s. And Trump’s.

Watching you Cruzers have to rely on the intellectually bankrupt GOPe anti-Trump crowd for votes is already fun.

Romney and Bush are putting your boy on a very short leash. They can take away that support anytime they chose. Be careful what you wish for.

Then change the rules, but don’t fault a guy for playing by the rules.

the ‘rules’ have been changed many times already; that’s why the elective system is so maniacal...
