The Polls Trump Hasn’t Won
Wall Street Journal ^ | 3/9/16 | Karl Rove

Posted on 03/10/2016 6:32:19 AM PST by jimbo123

-snip-

Mr. Trump suggests those numbers will improve when he begins attacking Mrs. Clinton in the general election: “I haven’t even started on her yet.” Then again, neither have Democrats started on him.

They will pummel him over his bankruptcies, this summer’s Trump University fraud trial, his crude and misogynistic statements, his nativism while hiring foreign workers, his imperious manner. These things may not matter to Mr. Trump’s die-hard Republican primary supporters; they will matter to swing voters in a general election.

The GOP contest will arrive at its most critical moment next week. If Gov. Kasich wins Ohio, Sen. Rubio wins Florida and Sen. Cruz wins North Carolina, no one is likely to go to the convention with a delegate majority. On the other hand, if Mr. Trump wins Florida and Ohio, he’ll arrive in Cleveland in a strong position to become the party’s standard-bearer.

At this stage, stopping Donald Trump from winning the nomination will require Republicans to vote strategically, casting ballots for the non-Trump candidate best positioned to win each state. That’s easy to suggest; it’s a lot harder to pull off.

One of the most remarkable things about America today is that someone with a track record like Karl Rove can even find a job.

I suspect he's hell-bent on undermining Trump's campaign because all of these inside-the-Beltway @ssholes will be exposed as a bunch of useless slugs.

The Democrats don't have to attack Trump.

That's all that Rove and the rest of the GOPe have been doing for the past six months.

How reliable is any poll 6 months before an election?

Why do Democrats need to attack Trump when they've got National Review, the Wall Street Journal and the Weekly Standard doing it for them?

“On the other hand, if Mr. Trump wins Florida and Ohio”

He grudgingly admitted on O’Reilly when Trump wins these on Tuesday, he’s got it in the bag. That’ll last until Wednesday when he’ll show how Rubio and Kasich aren’t out yet.
