Trump blames Kasich for economic collapse, NAFTA (Lehman Bros scandal, NAFTA)

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Saturday blamed rival John Kasich for the economic collapse and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

“Kasich was a managing director” at Lehman Brothers, Trump said at a rally in Dayton, Ohio, on Saturday.

“He was right in there dealing with the big boys, all the people who dealt the horrible decisions."

Trump ripped Kasich earlier this week for his time at the investment bank, claiming that the Ohio governor “helped Wall Street predator Lehman Brothers destroy the economy.”

“He voted for NAFTA,” Trump said Saturday.

It only remains to tie that to loss of Ohio jobs and suppression of middle class incomes because of rigged trade deals. Before any of the Trump haters or faux “full throated conservatives” start singing the praises of free trade, I’ll remind you that the US has not had free trade since the early 1900’s - just managed trade deals with the table slanted away from the American middle class.

Absentee Governor Kasich voted for NAFTA and NAFTA devastated Ohio - a disaster from which it never recovered. Kasich is good for Mexico!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 12, 2016

Good! I’ve been waiting for this.
The Chicago rally provided Trump with wall to wall coverage as he attends both Ohio rallies.
Kasich was not prepared and is struggling to respond.

Before any of the Trump haters or faux “full throated conservatives” start singing the praises of free trade, I’ll remind you that the US has not had free trade since the early 1900’s - just managed trade deals with the table slanted away from the American middle class.

NAFTA, GATT, and TPP are not "Free Trade Deals": they are sovereignty-robbing, anti-American worker "agreements" which invariably created a situation where American trade barriers were lowered immediately and fully, while the removal of trade barriers to America in other countries either did not occur at all, or occurred in an incremental basis which was and is totally unfair to American business.

"Free Trade" was a phony Establishment label which they slapped on these horrible "agreements" in order to trick the American People into swallowing them.

Now the American People have seen the results... Kasich deserves to be hammered for this continuously from now until Tuesday and beyond.

Trump also referenced the General Pershing anecdote from the WW I era, the one about the Muslim terrorists and the pigs blood.

I've seen that incident cited on FR many times in the past, long before Trump launched his candidacy.

I've also seen assertions that this incident is a myth, and that it never really happened.

Is there anybody here who can attest to the validity of this historical event?

I mean, regardless of whether the incident really occurred or not, it does serve as a parable on the conditions of War and what it takes to combat Islamic Terror.

But I'd like to know what the origin of the account is...

As was Ross Perot decades ago - that “great sucking sound of jobs leaving the US.”

The best job I had money/benefits-wise went to Mexico when that A-hole Clinton signed NAFTA.

And, yes, I'm still angry about it.
