This is a crying shame and could’ve been prevented if we had merely annexed the American sector at the end of WW2.

How many people have suffered or died under the communist yoke because we didn’t keep the territory that we’ve occcupied?

It wasn't that we couldn't keep it. We gave it up. Yeah, the America that's supposed to be so imperialistic gave up the (minor) territory it had claimed in Europe after the second world war we'd mopped up. And you'll notice that we didn't exactly annex Japan or the South Pacific either. Or France. Or Italy. Or any of the other countries we spilled our blood to liberate, and that now look down their noses on us.

If Americans are anything, they're generous to a fault.
