Gov. John Kasich’s campaign is plotting to snatch the Republican nomination at a contested convention in Cleveland in August.

Kasich campaign chief strategist John Weaver blasted out a strategy memo during Kasich’s Ohio victory speech that made clear that Kasich will seek to win the nomination at a contested convention. “No candidate will win 1237 delegates,” Weaver said in the memo.

Ohio governor Kasich defeated Donald Trump in the Ohio primary Tuesday night, with Kasich grabbing 43.4 percent of the vote to Trump’s 36.5 percent, with 28 percent of the precincts reporting.

“This is all I got,” Kasich said in his Ohio victory speech. “We are going to go all the way to Cleveland and secure the Republican nomination.”

But Donald Trump’s campaign scoffed at Kasich.

This reads like satire!

it is going to be very difficult to stop Trump. It can be done but it is very very unlikely given the state coming up. States most favorable to Trump are coming up while areas he should of done badly in he did well.

No, he really isn’t. He is there and running as the establishment’s answer to keeping Trump from getting the 1237. That’s all. What does he get for it? Could be some cabinet position, a cushy party position, or even some fantastic Republican House budget WINDFALL for his state of citizens addicted to government largess.

Kasich grabbing 43.4 percent of the vote ............................. That’s his state, and 56% didn’t want him?

Its all about him instead of the people. If you listened to his speech last night that was plainly evident.

I think it’s safe to say Trump will get more than 43% in New York when they vote next month.

FWIW, even the NBC political analysts were expressing how unwise it would be to attempt something like that, with over a thousand Trump supporters inside the convention hall.

The idea that a brokered convention would happen without involving the candidate with a plurality would really cause a cataclysm at that convention.

It was very disturbing how often he referred to himself last night. He’s clearly driven by egotistical reasons. Someone should count up the number of times he said I, me or my.

The GOPe has gotten so used to getting away with deceiving its base that it thinks it can slide another fast one by them. The elites are so emboldened and arrogant that they can’t even see the jig is up. Time has run out on their backstabbing games.

The Sea Island Conspiracy. Smoking is now prohibited in most closed spaces, otherwise that would have been the proverbial smoke-filled room. All the attendees who were there now have the perfectly good opportunity to repudiate any agreements that had been made behind closed doors, and walk away with at least a little honor left, if tattered, faded and tarnished.

But perhaps we are not dealing with honorable men. Or anybody who even knows of the concept.

Caesar was warned to beware of the Ides of March. That time has now come and gone.
