Committee Democrats Waste More Than $2 Million Obstructing Benghazi Investigation
The Select Committee on Benghazi ^ | Jan 29, 2016 | N/A

Washington, DC – Select Committee on Benghazi Press Secretary Matt Wolking released the following statement regarding Committee Democrats spending more than $2 million in taxpayer money on politically-motivated efforts to undermine and obstruct the investigation into a terrorist attack that killed four Americans:

“While Democrats on the Benghazi Committee have made a big show of pretending to care about the cost of this investigation, they’ve made zero meaningful contributions and spent virtually all of their time and effort on undermining and obstructing the committee’s work, directly contributing to its length and cost. Their incessant politicization of legitimate congressional oversight is appalling and grotesque, and only proves that the process could have been completed much faster if Democrats had helped with the work instead of delay it. Of course, their motivations are obvious: they’ve endorsed the former Secretary of State for president, and will no doubt continue to act as a full-fledged arm of her campaign, wasting taxpayer dollars on everything but getting answers for the families of the victims who were left without adequate security on September 11 in one of the most dangerous places in the world.”

Democrats’ spending has topped $2 million, or more than one-third of the committee’s total cost.

Republicans on the Benghazi Committee have conducted a thorough, fact-centered investigation, interviewing 69 witnesses to date, including 55 who had never before been interviewed by a congressional committee. Seven of those were eyewitnesses to the attacks. Witnesses have said the committee’s questions were “very constructive” and demonstrated “professionalism and respect.” Republicans have also obtained and reviewed roughly 100,000 pages of documents, about 70,000 of which had never before been obtained or reviewed by a congressional committee.

In contrast, Democrats on the Benghazi Committee:

Can’t name a single witness from the Obama administration they have requested to interview.

Can’t name a single new document they have requested from the Obama administration.

Launched an “asked and answered database” in September 2014, before the committee interviewed a single new witness and before it obtained roughly 55,000 new pages of documents.

Claimed “On February 13, 2015, the State Department completed its production to the Select Committee of Secretary Clinton’s emails relating to the Benghazi attacks,” two months before the committee received another 100 pages in June and five months before the committee received another 1,500 pages in September.

Issued more than 60 press releases (and counting) defending their endorsed candidate for president.

Did not deny “strategic coordination with the campaign” of their endorsed candidate.

Admitted they asked every witness the same questions about their endorsed candidate.

Are “doing her work for her,” according to CNN.

The committee is still waiting to receive crucial documents from the State Department and CIA, and still waiting for key witnesses to be made available for interviews.

I know it's old, but I had wondered how Gowdy was doing since there may be a rocky republican convention and knew this would get more attention! LOL Anyway, here is the latest schedule of witnesses...

Select Committee Announces Scheduled Testimony of Additional Witnesses (Feb 25, 2016)

Washington, D.C. — Select Committee on Benghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy (SC-04) released the following statement announcing the upcoming private testimony of additional witnesses:

“Our committee continues to break an immense amount of new ground as we compile the most comprehensive accounting of what happened before, during and after the terrorist attacks in Benghazi. As we approach our 80th witness interview and work to release our report and recommendations before summer, it’s time for the administration to turn over the records this committee requested nearly a year ago. The American people and the families of the victims deserve the truth, and I’m confident that the value and fairness of our investigation will be abundantly clear to everyone when they see the report for themselves.”

The following witnesses will be questioned in private and bring the total number of witnesses interviewed to 79, including 62 who had never before been interviewed by a congressional committee (these are denoted with asterisks). This schedule is not comprehensive and is subject to change.

Throw the ‘Rats off the committee. They claim it’s a partisan witch hunt anyway, so to quote one of their favorites: ‘what difference at this point does it make’.

From the point of view of the Democrats, the $2 million was well spent, all the better because it was from GOVERNMENT funds, and not out of the pockets of the usual suspects.

Democrats seem to live very complicated lives, the more so because sometimes their explanations and stories get all tangled up over each other..The simple truth would serve them ALL much better in the end.

Mark Twain was quoted as saying, “Always Do Right. This Will Gratify Some People and Astonish the Rest.”

I am prepared to be astonished.

‘An eyewitness to the attacks from the national security community’

Does this mean they are finally getting access to the 30 or so CIA operatives whose lives were saved in spite of Obama’s and Clinton’s orders? (and FYI, my hippie brother after, saying ‘no one really knows what happened in Benghazi’ was unaware that there were ANY survivors. But he only listens to Big Media, who only report what Obama allows).

That is what I was hoping, too. I really had hoped for this kind of investigation into the SEAL’s helo shoot down “Extortion 17” but that may have to wait.

Every time I think of that, I get tears welling up. I want to know WHO ordered all those SEALs onto the same helicopter........in my gut, I just know that was an intentional payback (by the higher-ups in our Government) for the Bin Laden kill.

Likely. I suspect that ‘special room’ in the WH is in hyperdrive, shredding all the incriminating evidence against this Admin.

We should not complain, because the Democrats are just doing their job in defending an innocent Secretary of State. After all, it is not like anyone died; What difference does it make anyway?/s
