I always thought that prisons and everyone involved in the prison system would seem to have a vested interest in brutalizing people. I mean, why wouldn’t they absolutely want the recidivism rate to be as high as possible? It seems to me that is one way to get it, releasing broken folks. Do social workers want folks not to apply for social welfare programs? I don’t know, maybe that is just conspiracy crap, and I don’t dig resorts either, which doesn’t seem like much of a deterent.

It does dovetail in with privately owned and operated prisons. You don’t see Ford trying to eliminate cars.
