NEW YORK -- The Secret Service, FBI and New York Police Department are investigating what sources tell CBS News is a threatening piece of mail sent to Donald Trump's son, Eric Trump.
The mail, sent to Eric Trump at his posh Manhattan residence at 100 Central Park South, also known as Trump Parc East, was opened by his wife Thursday.
A source close to the investigation said the letter had a Massachusetts postmark and warned that if Donald Trump doesn't withdraw from the race for the Republican presidential nomination -- paraphrasing -- harm will come to the kids.

A source familiar with the matter said the envelope contained suspicious white powder that's been sent to a lab for testing. The source a preliminary field test indicated the substance didn't appear to be hazardous.
No injuries were reported.

I just can’t believe that the GOPe would go to this level to try to get their guy on the ticket in place of Trump. I just don’t see how Romney, Jeb, or Linda would have a prayer in 2016. What’s the point?
(well, we know it’s NOT the Left doing this, because the GOPe, along with many FReepers here, keep telling us that Trump is the easiest to beat and is really a liberal in disguise - so the has NO MOTIVE to deny Trump the nomination)
This was bound to happen, and is more common across the board than we know.
It is heartbreaking when you think how Trump is in it for the good of the country, and so many are not appreciative of his sacrifices on every level.
I pray for Donald Trump, his family and all of the other candidates. No matter which side they are on, there is no excuse for these types of threats.

Back when Ross Perot was running, folks still believed the system of choosing a nominee was essentially above board. Folks generally accepted that Perot was imagining things.
Today, does anyone doubt that the thugs (both political parties) are capable of scare tactics to thwart candidates?

The only one I know from Massachusetts that could be involved is Mitt Romney. It probably came from one of Mitt Romney’s staffers.
This is the first I’ve seen something like this reported, but that doesn’t mean this is the first time his family has been threatened.
I suspect the threats have been steadily coming either overtly or covertly for some time.
And now that DJT has entered the home stretch, I’m sure the boys in Arkansas have been given their marching orders. I wonder how long it will take for them to realize that Manhattan is a little different than the back woods of AR.
There are many Trump bldgs. in NYC. Although I never thought about it, I wouldn’t immediately guess that he lived in a Trump building on Central Park South. For all I know, he could have lived in a mansion in CT.
The mailer obviously knew exactly where he lived.
One thing I have noticed, is that Trump always facing the threat—whether it is a protester or someone bumrushing the stage.
Even during his rallies, he will walk toward the side of the stage facing the protestor, or walk behind the podium if the protester is behind him.
That man needs to be the next President of the United States.
