Mark Kirk is first Republican senator to call for vote on Garland
Washington Post ^ | March 18, 2016 | Mike DeBomis

Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois on Friday became the first Republican senator to call for an up-or-down vote on Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland, saying on a Chicago radio show that his colleagues ought to “just man up and cast a vote.”

That Kirk would be first to break with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and other GOP colleagues, who believe the next president should pick the replacement for Justice Antonin Scalia, is not particularly surprising: Kirk was already one of two Republican senators, with Susan Collins of Maine, to call for hearings.

Quisling.

This is why we cannot allow a vote - too many progressive repubs will confirm him. And the country will be lost for a generation, if not forever.

Dam? It has to be voted out of committee first. Plus does anyone remember the numerous times that Dingy Harry refused to allow items to even reach the floor of the Senate.
That crack is the Illinois crackpot Mark Kirk!

Illinois is a wonderful place, governed by nitwits.

The press will laud him for his “courage” in breaking ranks, and more will follow. In reality, he’s a coward, afraid of losing his cushy job.

I live in Illinois. Kirk, a RINOs RINO, won in the Tea Party Wave that washed over the 2010 Election after we were force fed Obamacare.

He's been Democrat Lite his whole term and I fully expect that Tammy Duckworth, a disabled vet Dem, to beat him here in the Democrat stronghold of Illinoisistan.

Define “spineless republican”. For my part, I only see collaborators in the Uniparty that hate conservative Americans.

This is neither unexpected nor terrible. Kirk knows that McConnell has said there will not be a vote. He is about as conservative as can be elected in Illinois (which is to say he is a total RINO), so he calls for a vote, knowing it won't happen, but he can go home and say "I tried."

Bottom line is that if you are in IL, vote for the man - he is the best we are going to get out of that state and if we lose the majority in the Senate, Garland will be confirmed before Obama leaves office.
