Cruz swipes Trump in AIPAC speech
The Washington Examiner ^ | 3/21/2016 | GABBY MORRONGIELLO

Ted Cruz on Monday mocked Donald Trump's grasp of history and promised not to be neutral in a negotiation between Israel and Palestinians, something Trump has said he would do if elected president.

At his speech before the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, Cruz started by highlighting a mistake Trump made during his own speech just minutes earlier.

"Perhaps to the surprise of the previous speaker, Palestine has not existed since 1948," Cruz said, drawing mixed laughter and applause from the crowd.

Way to go Ted
Promise not to be neutral and get the hopes up for your role in meaningful negotiations between warring parties
Trump, already said if both sides didn’t think he was fair he wouldn’t be able to help them negotiate a deal
So, Common sense or pure conservative ideology? - choose whichever is most likely to actually make something happen

Accuracy is important in foreign relations, as is nuance. Speeches don’t cut it unless they are definitive and accurate. That is upsetting, but true. The issue of “Palestine” as even being considered a “state” is a rather important one especially to AIPAC. No small matter even if we think the point is “condescendingly” delivered. It is, after all what the entire area tries to lay claim to— a palestinian state.

Cruz has become arrogant and condescending?

Are you pulling everyones leg? If you would deign to look up those two words, your hero ‘s picture is used for the definition. He has been churlish, bullying, egotistical, mean spirited, hate filled , spiteful and speaks on a third grade level ( not by choice).

I dislike this man intensely as this conservative poser and opportunist will squander the greatest hope we had for some real long standing conservative changes that I never dreamed could be obtainable in my lifetime.

It isn’t going to get Cruz any more votes,

He shouldn’t have tried to embarrass Trump at this meeting,

Just wait until Hillary gets a hold of that tape and keeps playing it, if Trump is the R nominee.

Trump was not wrong...Palestine has existed since 1948...Even longer...

Of course, there has NEVER been a nation known as Palestine...Only a region, but it was in existence in 1948.

The history of a distinct Palestinian national identity is a disputed issue amongst scholars.[36][37] Legal historian Assaf Likhovski states that the prevailing view is that Palestinian identity originated in the early decades of the 20th century.[36] “Palestinian” was used to refer to the nationalist concept of a Palestinian people by the Arabs of Palestine in a limited way until World War I.

I’ll trust you that it was good. I haven’t listened to a speech by anyone in a while. I don’t enjoy them.

I read Trump’s layout for the health plan and his other comments and that’s good enough for me. Besides, there’s no one else to vote for, to be honest, now that ted has gone RINO

I don’t know about the debate championships.
But his record before the supreme court,
Medellin case win
Mojave dessert Cross Win
Texas Ten Commandments Win
Under God in the Pledge Win
DC VS. Heller Win

That is five wins three more than you claim.
You mean the one to two years working as a mid level Bush FTC employee. The one that he then left and was glad he got out when he did.

The senate where he was in a dem senate for two of those years, and then spent time trying to do what he promised he would and garnered the hatred of the Repuublican leadership.

Where he helped stop amnesty, don’t believe me ask Jeff Sessions, were he shut the government down trying to stop ObamaCare, shining the light of day on the Lies of Mitch McConnell.

That is a pretty productive senate term so far to me.

Are you really this obtuse? These aren’t Dems voting for Trump because they think he’ll lose against Hillary, they’re the old Reagan Democrats who are truly supporting Trump because the Dems are too far Left!

I’d love to see IQ tests for Ted and Donald. Cruz has commands of facts that are pertinent to his job, his career. Trump has been this field for 8 months. If that little oops moment is Cruz’s big catch, he’s in trouble.

Meanwhile Trump not only knows the business/developer side inside out, the banking, the budgets, the regulation, whole bit and has come up to speed with professional politicians.

Wonder how Cruz would do learning Trump’s business in 8 months.

because most of our primaries are open, and the dems are coming over and voting for the candidate that they could live with if the dem nominee lost the presidency.

Well, you be thinking wrong then. Polls have shown that up to 20% of the democrat vote may go for Trump. He is popular across all demographic spectrums. The problem with being a Cruz supporter is you have to defend the illusion that Cruz is even relevant...which he is not in terms of being able to beat Trump. BTW, Reuters five day rolling poll has Trump at 50% and Cruz at 21%...Trump is surging and Cruz is peaked it looks like. Also, Economist poll came out last week. Trump moved from 44% support in February to 53% in March!

Do you realize you are actually talking about preventing people from joining the Republican party by going closed? Or, preventing supporting the front running Republican by candidate by democrats who are disillusioned with their party and independents who are sick of this government corruption. To win, which Cruz still would not, you advocate limiting people from joining our side...that is sick.

“intellectually, by any measure, Cruz runs circles around Trump.”

I disagree. Just compare what did Trump accomplish in life vs. what Cruz did.

Here is Trump from the last quote in the article;
“ “You have one side in particular growing up and learning that ‘these are the worst people, these are the worst people, etc., etc.,” he said. “I was with a very prominent Israeli the other day and he said it’s impossible because the other side has been trained from the time they’re children to hate Jewish people. I’m going to give it a shot.” “

What do you think he is talking about?
