As Siblings Again Unite to Unleash Terror, Experts Ask What Drives Them

The identification of Khalid and Ibrahim el-Bakraoui as suicide bombers in the deadly Brussels attacks is confronting investigators and counterterrorism experts with a disturbingly recurrent question: Why do so many terrorists turn out to be brothers?

The Bakraouis join a list of brothers involved in nearly every major terror attack on Western soil since three sets of Saudi siblings were among the 19 hijackers who carried out the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the United States.

For terror groups, brothers can be ideal recruits. They radicalize each other while reinforcing a sense of purpose and ideological calling. They keep watch on each other to ensure an attack is carried out. One new study suggests that up to 30 percent of members of terrorist groups share family ties.

Siblings also present a formidable challenge for law enforcement. They often live in the same house. They can communicate easily, without using cellphones that are vulnerable to surveillance. And the glue of family can often — though not always — serve as insurance against one member of a cell betraying the mission to the authorities.

“Brothers would likely be exposed to similar radical messages, and they might well debate and brainstorm together about them,” said Audrey Kurth Cronin, an author and scholar at George Mason University. “And if you can rely on a family member in your plotting, it’s probably less likely that they’ll go to the police. It’s a question of security and trust.”

The list goes on: in January 2015, the Kouachi brothers, Chérif and Saïd, gunned down 12 people in the Paris offices of the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo; the Tsarnaev brothers, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan, carried out the 2013 bombings at the Boston Marathon.

What drives them: EVIL

and, it knows it’s time is short.

During the time I was in Bible School, I was privileged to read a wonderful book, “The Life of Jesus Christ”, by James Stalker.

This book was out of print, but the author’s family was willing to submit it for reprinting. It’s amazing.

What impacted me the most was the similarity of how the world was at the very moment Jesus entered into his ministry. By the words James Stalker wrote, you can see the very same pattern emerging .. as though Jesus’ reappearance is on the horizon.

On page 19, James wrote: “... the significance of the fact that God chose for His Son, out of all the possible positions, the lot of a working man. It stamped men’s common toils with everlasting honor.”

On page 27, James wrote: “To the Pharisaic Party (”leaders” of the day) belonged most of the scribes (media). They were both the interpreters and copyists ... and the lawyers of the people. They were the chief interpreters ... of the law ... But, they entirely missed their opportunity. They became a dry ... and scholastic class, using their position for selfish aggrandizement, and scorning those to whom they gave stones for bread as a vulgar and unlettered riffraff. And ... the pupils studied the commentaries (media programs) instead of the text (of the Constitution). Moreover, it was a rule with them that the correct interpretation of a passage was as authoritative as the text itself; and, the interpretations of the famous masters being as a matter of course believed to be correct.”

Page 28 - James wrote: “Every new writing or invention was multiplied until they regulated every detail of life - personal, domestic, social, and public. They became so numerous, it required a lifetime to learn them all. The conscience was burdened with innumerable details ... This was the horrible nightmare ... But worse consequences flowed from it. It is a well-known principle in history, that whenever the ceremonial is elevated to the same rank with the moral, the latter (moral) will soon be lost sight of. The ... leaders ... had learned to explain away the weightiest moral obligations, and make up for the neglect of them.

Society was rotten with vice within, and veneered over with a self-deception ....

Page 29 - James wrote: “The lower classes and the country people were separated by a great gulf from their wealthy neighbors ... Below all these was a large class of those who had lost all connection with the “leaders” and well-ordered social life, for whose souls no man cared.”

“Such were the pitiable features of the society on which Jesus was about to begin his ministry - a nation enslaved; the upper classes devoted themselves to selfishness, courtiership, and skepticism; the body of the people were misled by false ideals from the media; and, seething at the bottom of society, were a neglected mass of unblushing and unrestrained sin.

Page 32 - James wrote: “Jesus appeared at a time when the nation had lapsed from it’s ideals and caricatured their sublimest features, instead of meeting a nation mature in holiness and consecrated to the heaven-ordained task of blessing all other peoples (see Genesis 12:3).”

I know this is long, but none of this happened by chance. The people were waiting for a person with a magic wand; unaware that God was expecting them to realize that they would be required to change in order to MEET the Son of God.

I’ve said all this to explain that when Jesus was about to enter into his ministry, He was met by almost the very same groups of people who lived more than 2000 years ago.

Could this be just another sign of the probability of the sooner return of Jesus ..??
