First official Jewish tartan unveiled

JEWS around the world with a love of all things Scottish will now able to dress in an official kosher tartan.

The distinctive blue and white design was created by Mendel Jacobs, the only Scottish-born Rabbi living north of the border, and has been registered with the Scottish Tartans Authority.

Those "Lions Rampant" symbolize the fact that the clan is part of Sept MacAlpine, as in Kenneth MacAlpine (or MacAlpin) the first king of Scots, who came from the Western Hebrides to conquer the Picts, married a Pictish princess, and become the first Scottish king. The British queen flies this flag over Balmoral Castle when she's in attendance there. You're descended from royalty, Laddie!

I have read recently that the Western Islands are the last part of Scotland which is both conservative and religious.

Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits is a famous Scottish Jew. Mother Scottish and father a Jewish architect, refugee from Hungary. The accounts I have read are that his mother’s side (uncles etc) was quite musical and this is where he got his musical talents from

Isn’t haggis if butchered kosher and prepared in a kosher kitchen then isn’t it kosher by default being from both a split hooved animal and that chews a cud

No jokes about tight Scots, but this tartan was a mistake.

Someone mistranslated the original order for “Tartar” sauce to go with Scottish Fish and Chips.

And the rest is history!
