It starts with the individual who allows themselves to become emotionally invested in a candidate. The individual whose contribution to political dialogue is to say, "Boom" as if some glorious smack down occurred.
And maybe it did. But the point is the individual has become addicted to such emotional rhetoric believing it is a salve for their soul. Validation via sound bite.
But like with any addict the dosage required to get the same high increases with time so they are compelled to find their validation in more and more outrageous statements. And like an addict, denying that there is any sort of problem. Eventually turning their emotional instability on people who question the efficacy of the rhetoric.
That's where the hatred comes from.
