Cruz did pay Goldman Sachs back. His loans (against his own assets by the way) have already been paid back. GS has now provided Cruz a favor, now he owes them a favor.

So if you take a loan out against your 401k, does that mean you are beholden to scratch the bank’s back at some point?

GS has now provided Cruz a favor, now he owes them a favor. I paid off my student loans decades ago, but last week they made me help them get rid of a body. These banks have long memories and I did owe them a solid.
