Glenn Beck’s Defamation Lawsuit ‘Could Blow Up Ted Cruz’

Betsy Woodruff writes in the Daily Beast that Glenn Beck who is “one of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97% ’s most high profile surrogates,” could end up becoming “a rolling PR nightmare” for Cruz when Beck “heads to court this summer for allegedly defaming a victim of the Boston Marathon bombing.”

[Glenn Beck] currently faces a defamation lawsuit—because he doubled and tripled down on charges that a victim of a terrorist attack was actually the real terrorist.

And now, previously unnoticed court filings show his defamation lawsuit might get exciting—and just as the presidential race hits a boiling point. Filings also show that the mediation process, which could have resulted in a settlement, has been terminated.

In a radio broadcast earlier this month, Beck complained that he has spent a lot of money paying his own way to campaign for Cruz.

“This has cost me about $300,000 to go on the road for as long as I have,” he said, according to the Christian Post reported. “$300,000 out of my pocket. Those are not donations. This is out of what I’ve personally lost because I’m not on the job, so that’s what it’s cost me by not being at the facilities in Dallas. We’ve lost $300,000.”

Beck also stumped for the senator in Arizona and Utah. In the lead-up to that trip, he told listeners that they needed to campaign for the senator because we may be facing divine judgment.

“Ezekiel talks about these times and says basically everyone in their own way, you are a watchman on the tower, you are a watchman at the gate,” he said. And the blood of the people who could have been saved—now think of this—because we’re talking about the rights of all mankind.

Immaterial. Beck had a limited window of time to make his contribution and he did it. Whatever does or doesn't happen to him in the future can't un-ring the bell. THey could strip him of everything and throw him in the can and that doesn't undo Iowa or Utah (or wherever).

And poor Glenn losing wealth? Pure crap. Glenn and his family will never have to worry about falling on hard times. He's smart enough to have put some of his assets where they can't be touched (certainly not next to the food or the gold.. or in his Liberty safe), and even if he wasn't, he's not going to lose the support of his brethren.

Beck is a big liability for Ted. Not that Ted needed any help in that area.

Then stay home, you bonehead.

You've already been a "rolling PR nightmare" for Cruz.

Whatever damage Beck inflicts on Cruz has for the most part already been factored in by most primary voters. The general is where Beck becomes an issue. Not the primary

That’s after Teddy dropped $10,000 into his Mercury company. He’s laying people off left and right......but can put that kind of money into a failing campaign

Beck is exaggerating, lying, whatever you want to call it on the $300,000, IMO.

I agree. Even flying First Class (and doesn’t David Barton have his OWN net?); staying in Four Star hotels there is no way he’s burned more than 50k.

Glenn Beck is unstable. Cruz apparently doesn’t see it. I can only assume it’s because Cruz is unstable.

Maybe he paid himself or one of his other personalities $250,000?

That’s just expenses, Glenn is probably figuring in all of the unrealized potential revenue he could have generated, or not.

What a bunch of odd bed fellows. An article by Breitbart, wholly financed by Robert Mercer aka Trump hater #1, trying to show us how Beck can/will/might harm Ted.

I think the GOPe has way too many mitts in the pie.

“Frank Gaffney, head of the conspiratorial Center for Security Policy, was cast out into the cold by most of the GOP—in part for his irrational fear of Muslims—before he found a haven in the Cruz campaign. Gaffney also helped push the Obama birther theories in 2008 and has accused top Hillary Clinton adviser Huma Abedin of being a secret member of the Muslim Brotherhood.”

“Speaking of secret Muslims, he has long crusaded against Grover Norquist, head of Americans for Tax Reform, who Gaffney also believes is secretly hiding his Muslim faith. In fact, Gaffney is so obsessed with Norquist’s alleged secret life that he has convinced enough members of the National Rifle Association of his claims that they moved to bring Norquist’s membership on its board up for a vote.”

There are many here on FR who question Huma’s loyalty. Does the FBI?

Thing about Beck, he does bring a lot of stuff to the table. Like a human National Enquirer, eh?

Maybe Beck and Kasich can split the bill for some Haldol and Lithium.

Wow! It cost him almost as much to travel with Ted, as Ted spent on Carly’s $500,000.

These people throw money around like they really don’t have to work for it.
