Emory president chalks pro-free speech message after ‘Trump 2016’ frightens students

Emory University President James W. Wagner chalked his own free speech message onto a campus sidewalk after students protested over pro-Donald Trump messages that they said threatened their safety.

Students had petitioned the administration to denounce the pro-Trump chalkings that began appearing throughout the Atlanta campus last week, saying the possibility that fellow students could support Mr. Trump made them feel unsafe at school.

Roughly 40 students carrying signs such as “Stop Trump” and “Stop Hate” protested outside of the Administrative Building last week, chanting “You are not listening! Come speak with us, we are in pain!”

Some students went so far as to disrupt a board meeting to ask that Mr. Wagner “decry the support for this fascist, racist candidate,” Campus Reform reported.

Good for him! Unlike the morons running Missouri, this guy gets that most people actually will side with him. Even some lefties are sick of this stuff.

I wonder how many students were traumatized by President Wagner's message.

I've often wondered about these "traumatized" students. Some, perhaps many of them, are indeed sheltered special snowflakes whose phony self-esteem has been propped up with too many participation trophies as kids, and who really can't stand to see their bubbles burst.

However, the majority are probably just manipulative liars who know who to play the victim card in today's system. They claim psychological trauma (in response to "verbal assault" or "micoraggression") in a cynical maneuver to silence their opponents. It's a scheming path to political power disguised as helplessness and victimhood, at least for the more intelligent of the bunch, not so different from this Fields con-girl claiming that having her arm grabbed is "assault."

There's probably more of a sleazy, Machiavellian intelligence behind the lisp of a Pajama Boy than we'd like to think. They know that it's come down to this: claim you're a traumatized, helpless victim, and the world's your oyster.

It’s amazing that kids fear sidewalk chalk.

You make a great point, especially about Michelle Fields and her drama queen act and from what I’ve read she’s pulled it in the past.

PC types are winning.

No doubt about that. Libs once labeled non-PC ideas as merely stupid or backward. Now they see these ideas as "hate speech" that must be outlawed.

This is a very, very troubling trend. And I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Emory's president was brought before Emory's board of directors to explain his "insensitive" defense of free speech.

Self-censorship will soon be the norm in this country, so I've updated an old Soviet joke:

Reporter: What's your opinion on hate speech laws?
American: I agree with the current PC position.

Reporter: What's your opinion on immigration?
American: I agree with the current PC position.

Reporter: Don't you have any opinions of your own?
American: Yes, but I don't agree with them.

I know he did. Only one in who has. PC types are winning.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. They were winning as long as this stuff didn't get too much publicity. But the more people who read about this stuff, the greater the pushback.

The left may have overplayed their hand on this.

I would recruit college grads from Pepperdine University, or Hillsdale College. Met several from both, and loved em!
