Cruz Hater Karl Rove: Let's Go With a Fresh Face at the Convention!
PJ Media ^ | 04-01-2016 | Michael van der Galien

Karl Rove, establishment hack extraordinaire, has cobbled up a new plan to deny a proven conservative (read: Ted Cruz) the nomination. In an interview with Hugh Hewitt, the former George W. Bush strategist also known as The Architect explained what he and his fellow establishmentarians have in mind:

"I think, though, that let’s say this. If we have somebody who we think has, has been battle tested, and has strong conservative principles and the ability to articulate them, and they are nominated at this convention, there will be a lot of acrimony from the people who were seeking the nomination. But if it’s somebody who has, you know, has those convictions that they can express in a compelling way, we could come out of the convention in relatively strong position, because we do have, you know, look.

"Donald Trump excites a lot of enthusiasm. But he also excites a lot of anger within the Republican Party and outside of the Republican Party. And a fresh face might be the thing that could give us a chance to turn this election and win in November against Hillary."

Rove rightfully pointed out that Trump's negatives are through the roof, which means it'll be virtually impossible for him to win a general election, but he has no good reason to argue against nominating the Ted Cruz, who's second in delegate count and who seems to be on track to win in Wisconsin, which would provide his campaign with a major boost.

The only argument Rove has is that Cruz is sometimes winning against Hillary Clinton and sometimes losing...

All you Cruz supporters who think Cruz will be the nominee at an unbrokered convention are going to be SHOCKED !

There is NO WAY in HEELL they will give Cruz the nomination, if they pass on Trump. NO WAY !

Cruz is a fresh face, versus anyone Rove would get behind.

Republican Party - an extinct American political party which was founded by the Abolitionist Movement in the 1850’s, and played a critical role in American political life until committing suicide in 2016.

Those who vote for Cruz are actually voting for GOPe because at the convention they’re going to pick someone not Cruz or Trump

Trump is the only one who that has a path. Cruz is acting as spoiler for GOPe. I think the National Enquirer story was planted by GOPe to enrage Cruz enough to blame Trump for it to stay in the race

They must have the smoking gun on Cruz, they will drop it prior to the convention.

You are going to get an old fresh face folks.

Aren’t you just so excited?

By "fresh face" he means Mitt Romney or Paul Ryan -- a tag team that gave us four more years of Obama and his minions. No thanks, Rove. Your "freshness" meter is skewed.

He could have at least said, when accepting act of love’s endorsement, that while he and bush have many differences of opinions on issues, he accepts the endorsement blah blah.

Really hurt when he took it.

and @#$#@$ Rove. why is he even talked to?

cruz is helping this corrupt party and then his supporters vote for this corruption by the way of cruz.

now when cruz is backstabbed I don’t want to see one cruz supporter on here or out in the real world complain about it. You supported it, you voted for it , and you get what you deserve, but at least I and others can hold our heads high knowing we fought the establishment.

that could give us a chance to turn this election and win in November against Hillary.

I hate this attitude of losing before the primaries are even over.

Plus Rove, and others, are helping Mrs. Bill Clinton by referring to her with the affectionate term, "Hillary". STOP IT!

No way Trump gets it either...his loyalty is and has always been with the liberal democrats that he helped get elected. His buddies Hillary, Harry, Nancy, and Chuckie.

So, all you Trumpsters: “why do you want to nominate a loser?”

At this point, I am really hoping that they actually do this.

I am so sick of the GOP elite, and if we cannot clean it up from within, it is long overdue for being taken down.

Anyone besides Trump or Cruz, and I will re-register independent the very next day.
