...The latest statistics this week from Pennsylvanias elections bureau show more than 214,000 registered voters have switched this year. That amounts to 3 percent of the states 8.2 million registered voters. Carbon County is among the states hot spots.
This is the first year voter registration in the state can be done online, making it easier than getting the paperwork, filling it out and submitting it. Many of those switching parties reported wanting to vote in Pennsylvanias April 26 primary, and the switching accelerated in the weeks before Mondays deadline for Pennsylvanians to register to vote in the election or change their voter registration.
Among those making a switch, about half became Republicans, according to state statistics as of Monday. One-third became Democrats and the rest about one-eighth joined a minor party or registered as unaffiliated
While some of the Republican gains might have to do with Democratic Party voters feeling abandoned by their party, most of it probably relates to Donald Trumps candidacy, said Bill Heydt, chairman of the Lehigh County Republican Party.
I think it is more love than hate going on, Heydt said. You know, Trump asks questions people want to hear, and nobody has been asking them or answering them either. I think it has opened a whole new window for people who are tired of the status quo.

95,000 of them will switch back to their own party and vote Democrat in November.
Now there is a murderers row of “Constitutional Conservatives” supporting TPA Teddy. LOL.
Isn’t PA one of those states where the Republicans have come out and said the delegates won’t necessarily support the primary winner?
I remember in Iowa, where there was a record Republican turnout, all these Democrats/Independents were switching parties to vote for Trump, except it didn't happen.
As we all happily remember Cruz won, and the exit polls showed half the people who switched specifically said it was to vote against Trump.
That would be sweet....
This PA voter will be supporting The Donald. Most people I know are also voting for him.
yeppurz, you aren’t kidding!~
I guess iCarly will be speaking for Ted telling them to do it, huh?
LOL... Your screwball fantasy continues.
~~Go Trump, GO!!~~~~Go Trump, GO!!~~~~Go Trump, GO!!~~~~Go Trump, GO!!~~
Of course. Because they want the GOP to nominate the weakest candidate. And they will vote for Hillary in November.
That is interesting, isn’t it?
Operation Chaos, Democrat Style. They will change back to Democrat and vote for Hillary in November.
Democrats are hoping Trump is the GOP nominee. With a 65% unfavorable rating and 53% unfavorable rating among Republican women, he could never win.
Only if Cruz succeeds in nominating Romney/Ryan/Bush. They'll stay with a Trump led, revamped Republican party that responds to the people. That is what this revolution is all about, getting the corruption out of Washington and returning the power to the people.
You didn’t get the memo?
Your vote is meaningless. It’s only delegates that matter.
Greatest strategery ever!
Yep. It’s not hard to see.
“95,000 of them will switch back to their own party and vote Democrat in November.”
As will the crossovers from every other state.
Wrong. Many Dems are voting Trump because their candidate is so bad.
These people will not vote Cruz.
