Ted Cruz Made $1 Million Representing Sketchy Clients While Running for Senate
Burnt Orange Report ^ | Aug 5, 2013 | Ben Sherman

Posted on 04/01/2016 8:25:01 PM PDT by FR_addict

While he travelled the state running for Senate last year, Ted Cruz found time to make $1 million representing deeply immoral clients of his former law firm. As the Dallas Morning News explains in their (pay-walled) investigate report, among his final clients were “a businessman who pleaded guilty to bribery, a drug manufacturer that fired an employee who refused to break the law, and a company that illegally copied another’s tire design.” Cruz lost all of those cases.

The businessman was Robert Mericle, who bribed two judges to give minors harsher sentences in the infamous “kids for cash” system. Why? To make money for his private juvenile detention center. Cruz lost the case, but he took home hundreds of thousands of Mericle’s money.

Two days after the arguments, Cruz appeared in his first primary debate with Dewhurst. The court had Mericle pay $2.15 million to fund local children’s health and welfare programs, and he faces up to three years in prison. His lawyer is now arguably the most prominent Republican in America. ...

I recently read about the "Kids for Cash" scandal. This was a disgusting chapter in our judicial system. Kids actually committed suicide from getting caught up in the crooked juvenile system.

Surprised to find out that Ted:

"helped Robert Mericle to sue an insurance company to help with financial damages to victims (kids and their parents) for false imprisonment and what do you call it “Child non-Abuse”?

The insurance company rightfully refused to pay out on Mericle’s real estate business’ involvement in, that was the backbone of the scam to defraud children of their youth and innocence and get into the with it modern “prisons for profit” gulag in America capital business portfolio."

April fools!

By the way, the Denver Broncos signed Johnny Manziel to a one year contract for $9,000,000.

Ted’s not a lawyer. He’s a Principled Conservative... Remember?

Of course he’s a lawyer. That’s why folks like me won’t vote for him. Lawyers are the problem with this country, not the solution.

I’m tired of this nitpicking junk.

Trump makes a misstatement and the MSM and Cruzers go nuts.

Cruz makes a misstatement and the MSM and Trumpsters go nuts.

Both have done some things that aren’t exactly pristine to get where they are.

Oh well.

Here’s what matters: WHO CARES ABOUT THE COUNTRY? WHO IS WILLING TO BUCK THE ENTRENCHED INTERESTS?

In my view, there are only two: (1) Trump. (2) Cruz. (3) Bernie - but he is a delusional socialist.

So GET WITH THE PROGRAM. Our enemy is the Democrat/GOPe Uniparty, who HATE both Trump and Cruz!

/not directed at anyone in particular, just a general statement of position

He also filed Appearances in a couple New Mexico personal injury cases and argued for higher punitive damages awards.

Poor Teddy Bares. Teddy is a smarmy lawyer, lying and representing anybody with the green. I guess if you are a Teddy Bare, anything is alright as long as it gets their guy another dollar.

How can a lawyer win every case when there’s always at least one opposing lawyer? Cruz has won major Supreme Court cases, so he’s obviously a good lawyer. Most lawyers never get near the Supreme Court.

All lawyers are sleazy, it’s just comes with the territory.

Hillary got a child molester off with a slap on the wrist by dragging the 14 year old victim thru the mud, accusing her of coming on to the guy.

Remember this famous quote from a lawyer “it depends on what your definition of is is.”

Maybe because people who don’t get into trouble don’t need lawyers.

Or is your position that people don’t deserve to have a defense lawyer?

So now you're saying being a LAWYER is a plus for the presidency? Isn't that like saying being an ivy plague graduate is a plus?

I was shocked when I came across the Kids for Cash scandal. That something like this could happen here.

Cruz took on this case, trying to get an insurance company to pay for his client’s illegal actions. The man pleaded guilty. You don’t have to take on every client that walks in your door.

Wow, I did not know this. However, one blogger kept referring to how Cruz caused people to commit suicide, and I was totally unaware of what the blogger meant - until now.

Depends on the Ivy League graduate. Many powerful conservatives went to those schools. BTW, Jeb and Marco are not Ivy League grads.
