SCOTUS Denies Request from D.C. Madam's Attorney to Release Info
NBC News ^ | Apr 5 2016

The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday denied a request from a lawyer who once represented a woman known as the "DC Madam" to release records from her famous escort service.

Those records include such sensitive information as customer names, Social Security numbers and addresses— information the lawyer, Montgomery Blair Sibley, has said could affect the 2016 presidential election. The so-called DC Madam Deborah Jeane Palfrey ran a high-priced escort service in the Washington D.C.-area for a number of years before her eventual conviction. She died in 2008.

Sibley wanted the Supreme Court to lift a lower court order, in place since 2007, that bars him from releasing any information about her records.

"Time is of the essence," Sibley wrote in his latest Supreme Court filing. "Given the significance of the upcoming political primaries and caucuses, in the looming Republican and Democratic conventions on July 18th and July 25th respectively, and given the impact of the presently sealed from the public record that this attorney seeks to release, upon those electoral deliberations, expedited resolution to this application is incumbent upon this court."

His application was directed to Chief Justice John Roberts, the justice assigned to emergency appeals from the Washington, D.C. area. Roberts denied it without seeking a response from any other party, a sign of how little merit Roberts found in the application.

Standard operating procedure at SCOTUS is that you submit such a request to the Justice who represents the geographic region wher the appellate decision was issued.
If that Justice denies the petition can be submitted it to another Justice to see if he or she will grant the request. That second Justice will either grant the request or submit the request to the full court to see if any other Justice is interested.
This request will now go to Justice Thomas.

encouraging ... but I think the SC looks on this matter as dirty laundry and doesn't want its name on it

If it saves the nation ... who cares ?

It’s under a restraining order.

Understood, but WHO is it protecting? I going to take a wild guess that there aren't any innocent names on that list!

SSN's? To get poontang?

If I may point out the obvious, these are not customers. That is why they are blocking it: so innocent people don't get hurt because there is no one alive that can provide testimonial evidence.

Trump can't handle losing without blaming and bellyaching....”introspection” is never part of his temperament. His saying talk radio doesn't like him, the media isn't fair , and on and on and on is not something coming from an individual of "strength" but of 'weakness' in every sense of the word.

It's so easy to see beyond the mask now.....but I understand he's having lessons now on how to be Presidential......so we get to watch that "show".....

O really???? I wonder if his name is in it? Gotta be some higher ups on that list to have him cover for them?

Buckwheat’s birth certificate is an attachment. Robert’s need’s to keep that under wraps.

Have things really sunk so low, that this tabloid-level nonsense is given not only hyperventilating attention by the press, but on FR?

[simulation]
“Oh! OH! There’s a D.C. Madam with a list! And there’s a record that Cruz was actually in D.C. many times! It’s absolutely IMPERATIVE to the interests of the country that the list of people be released, so that we know whether or not Cruz is on the list! Because, as everyone knows, Cruz was one of the only men in D.C. at the time... and, as it goes without saying, adultery is an absolute deal-breaker for the GOP nomination, as any Trump supporter will tell... er... will tell...

*ahem*...

um....”
[end simulation]

Good grief. This is not only beneath contempt, but it’s beneath junior-high maturity and beneath brain-damage-level cognitive skills. But people give it serious air time and credence. SMH.

I’d noticed how much Trump’s reaction to WI paralleled his reaction to IA...

Nothing like a sore winner. You are just as graceless as your natural born Canadian, fraud and chicanery committing, lying establishment idol.

I am glad that Donald Trump is standing up to vote fraud and violations of campaign law, and willing to be called a crybaby and a bad sport. We need honest elections in this country and someone to stand in the gap and call them out when they are not.

Donald Trump is my hero. The usurping constitution-ignoring Cuban Canadian not so much.

And this is the one good thing Hillary will do for this country, her nomination was stolen from her by another ineligible candidate, she won’t let her chance to be elected be stolen by another ineligible if he is nominated; she will be the one to ensure Article I, Section II, Clause 5 of the US Constitution is forever more.

And so God will use two evil people, Clinton and Cruz, for good.

And that is something to celebrate. So there is some good in the candidacy of Ted Cruz, the ineligible lying cheater. Celebrate that!

You are exactly right. The decision was made by one Justice alone. In other times during American history a justice in Justoce Roberts’ position might have recused himself because of the appearance of impropriety, since Cruz’s name is alleged to be on the list and Cruz worked hard to put Roberts on the court.

"These guys were giving their SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS to a Madam?"

I'm sure a "sleazy lawyer" like Cruz is accused of, wouldn't think of giving a fake SSN.

Not a lawyer, but what would happen to this person if:

His computer with this information got hacked and leaked?

The information was in his residence and he got broken into and that information was stolen and released?

Release it anyway

It’s your data...

There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to deny you your constitutional rights.

And I’m sure the serial adulterer and master bankrupt mogul wouldn’t either. He’d just go find a nude model to cheat on his wife with.
