I've lived in New York City & Manhatten all my life, so my views are a little bit different than if I live in Iowa.

He should be honest and have a rally at Goldman Sachs where his wife makes $800K/yr.

Sure. Trump should have a big rally at Trump Tower and then rallies at the investment banks who helped him fund his billions.

Then he could have a rally with George Soros who helped him fund his Chicago Tower.

And finally he could have a rally with Hillary Clinton who he helped fund the corrupt Clinton Fund and who he thinks "would make a great president".

What is Trump’s E/L ratio compared to Cruz? Trump can dump any of those banks since they want his business, can Cruz dump his wife’s $800K salary?

What are the odds a Senator’s wife making nearly a million a year from Goldman Sachs of cash? Can you say graft?

“The point is that Cruz blasted an entire state...”

No he did not. Everyone at the debate KNEW what he was referring to, and it was not upstate New York! Although given the track record for NY state voting, it wouldn’t be entirely wrong to paint the whole state as ‘big government’.

Taking joy in a picture of Lady Liberty flipping off Cruz is something Trump would do. It reflects the NY values of Trump (and a couple of NY college room mates I was cursed with for a short time) - obnoxious, boorish, angry, stupid, and self-centered.

BTW - my SIL is from upstate NY. He was the first to move to Arizona. All his siblings, after visiting Arizona, moved here too, with no intentions of ever moving back. They like freedom, and owning guns, and not being taxed to death. They like “Arizona values”...

“Just because he has a Hispanic last name does not mean he’s Hispanic,”

Yeah I know. just because he’s half Hispanic with a Hispanic last name doesn’t mean he’s Hispanic.

Wait. . . . What?

Why would Cruz fake hatred of New York City when his campaign is financed by million dollar loans from a Wall Street company his wife works for such as Goldman Sachs??

I’m going to have my middle-finger out just like that to NYC, next time al-Qaeda or maybe Isis decides to leave its mark on the place.

And Trump was born and raised in the Bronx.

Nope; he's from Queens.

The five boroughs of NY City:
1. Manhattan, 2. Brooklyn, 3. Queens, 4. The Bronx and 5. Staten Island.

Dutch immigrants founded the area that is now the five boroughs of NYC in the early 1600s, and Dutch descendents remained prominent in the NYC area throughout the 19th century and half the 20th century—Stuyvesant, Stryker, Vanderbilt, Knickerbocker, etc. Brooklyn was originally "Breuckelen", for instance. Martin van Buren and the Roosevelts were Dutch descendents, as are the Bush's, who are descendents of the Schuyler family of settlers.

Teddy should just skip NY and move on to the next state. He’s a Bush to them.

Made a mistake, Trump was Queens born and raised.

Sorry, I didn't see this before posting the illustration of the boroughs -- but that's for general freeper edification of those who live other than in the NE region.

Way To Go New Yorkers!!!

You mean those liberal New Yorkers with thousands of illegals? Those New Yorkers who will be voting for Her Heinous or Bernie the Red? You mean those New Yorkers who hate you as much as they hate Cruz?

When Cruz referred to NY values, conservatives knew quite well what he meant.

In view of the large liberal progressive population of NY, that was not a very strategic remark by Cruz. It was moral preening, quite dismissive of the sizeable population of a delegate-rich state. Trump's rejoinder about NYers' response to 9/11 was instantly resounding with most people across the country. Trump "gets" New York -- its people are widely disparate (Trump himself grew up in Queens, the most ethnically diverse district in the entire United States, according to Wikipedia), but New Yorkers are loyal and heroic; they unify when the chips are down. Cruz's barb about NY values was aimed mostly at social and religious values, and he is not going to win in the naturally multicultural NY with that attitude. New York's multiculturalsim is from a different, earlier and better era in U.S. history -- when people came from everywhere, contributing ethnic flavor but aiming to become Americans, learn American ways and be loyal citizens through hard work and building up families, not through entitlements.

Trump has had to get along in that very liberal state in spite of his conservative leanings, and he has not done it by sneering at the liberals. To conservative political purists, that's a treachery. To conservative mainstreamers, however, that's a Christian. That's what he means when he says he wants to unify people — let others follow their own consciences except in matters actually pertaining to the proper role of federal governance. Since he had no dog in the abortion fight, for instance, he didn't get involved in it before this, nor does he think it should be a federal matter, and the same with education.

Trump's strengths in business and as a conservative contender are in areas where the U.S. has now been perilously weakened by liberalism: finance and trade, and the liberalist's arrogant self-righteousness in valuing feelings over facts and political correctness instead of competence in areas of such enormous consequence. It is insane, as he has pointed out, that the fate of our economic and diplomatic deals should rest in the hands of political plum appointees with no expertise.

I hope if Trump wins that he does succeed in taking the Fed's hands off the states in the social arena and letting the states restrict marriage and abortion on their own terms, and form their own boards of education without DC oversight. Trump also wants to return large amounts of government-owned land and buildings to private ownership.

what Cruz said about New York values is essentially true but he should have held his tongue.
__________________________________________________

Why should Cruz hold his tongue when he’s speaking the truth? Don’t forget NYC’s love of abortion. Was it the mayor who said that if you had conservative values, that you are not welcome in NY?

Good, I wont spend my money in your rat infested sewer.

JUST so you all remember, Trump was born and raised in New York, went to Military School, and has made his living in New York...

Hillary was from Chicago, yeah that's right, right where Frank Marshall Davis, Rev. Wright, Bill Alike, and all the rest of the group...

After she was ‘Co-President’ she ‘carpet bagged’ her way into New York, she has CHICAGO values like ‘mutt’ that will be leaving the White House soon, Trump is a NEW YORKER...

And I lived in the East for 17 years, was there a week after 9/11, seen, heard and smelled everything...so unless you've been there at that time, your not a New Yorker, and I would have any New Yorker in my home rather than some Lyin’ Ted Cruz slimy, slithering, evil supporter!!!

“It was moral preening, …”

Exactly. Cruz does this kind of bonehead move constantly without a thought. Meant to ingratiate himself to the ultra-religious ‘morally superior’ zealots. And just like all his chummy shenanigans with “kill” or “jail” the gays religious outfits it’s not only going to take his ass down, it’ll be used against any GOP candidate.

Thanks a pant load Cruz.

But, but , but, the trumpeters keep telling me that Trump is the only one who will stop the illegals and yet, here is an article saying that NYers are rejecting Cruz because of his harsh stance on immigration. And then I read all the comments here and none of the trumpeters are talking about how the NYers have it all wrong...that only St Donald is strong on immigration.

I wonder why?
