Nor have the read the laws very closely. A passport also serves as documentation of citizenship, and Cruz has a passport and has had one for a long time.

Is citizenship the issue? Or is ‘natural born citizenship’?

Obama never did present his passport. The gov’t was to release it—and it was mysteriously missing. The one before it and the one after it were there. who cared then??? anyway, Obama was no threat to our country.

What does that have to do with the price of beans in China!? Everyone knows Cruz is a US citizen. The issue is that he was born in Canada and is therefore not eligible to be President. The US Constitution holds the Presidency requirement to a higher level than ordinary citizenship.

Article II, Section 1, Clause 5:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

“A passport also serves as documentation of citizenship, and Cruz has a passport and has had one for a long time.”

A U.S. passport provides a rebuttable presumption of U.S. citizenship, but this U.S. passport is subject to revocation in the event it is discovered that the U.S. passport was obtained unlawfully by fraudulent misrepresentations of the facts in the application for the U.S. passport. At the present time there is no publicly available documentation that would support Ted Cruz’s claim of U.S. citizenship, and many in complete lines of evidence suggest it is possible for Ted Cruz to have failed to acquire any form of lawful U.S. citizenship in the event his mother expatriated from the United States. In any event Ted Cruz is not and can never be a natural born citizen due to his birth abroad with foreign citizenship, but he may or may not have a valid claim to naturalized U.S. citizenship using his mother’s purported U.S. citizenship.
