Donald Trump Hailed as Hometown Hero in Staten Island
Time ^ | April 17, 2016 | Sam Frizell

When Maria Andrews’ mother came home with a load of heavy groceries and found a broken elevator at the modest brick Tysens Park Apartments on Staten Island, she wasn’t expecting to get much help from building management.

But then she saw Fred Trump pull up in an elegant black limousine. She put down her groceries and rapped on the limo’s tinted window to complain to the real estate royal who owned her building. To her surprise, the elder Trump came out and helped her carry her groceries up five flights of stairs, Andrews says today — and he stayed for coffee.

Forty years later, the daughter is voting for the son.

At a Staten Island fundraiser for the Republican Party of Richmond County on Sunday, Andrews recalls seeing Fred and Donald strolling around her childhood apartment complex, chatting with her mother.

“He was just a nice man,” Andrews says of Fred Trump. “And Donald was with him a lot. So I was a fan of them from back then.”

Donald Trump was born, raised, when to school in New York, and has lived there and in Florida...

Hillary Clinton came from Chicago, where she was acquainted with Alinsky and others...

After her ‘co-president’ with the other Clinton, they moved to New York, (a carpet bagger)...she was a Senator for New York but only named streets and parks, etc...nothing is found of any bills or passages of anything important, it was just a stepping stone to get to the Oval Office, she is a disgrace...

DeBasio isn't any better than Clinton, why the Manhattan people elected him as their Mayor no one knows, Rudy had the City cleaned up, but it appears that it's the slum that it was before Rudy took over...

That’s not true that Hillary accomplished nothing, because she did vote in favor of the Iraq War

... the ONLY candidate this year who did so.

From where I’m sitting, I wouldn’t call that an accomplishment, she voted to send our Fathers, Brothers, Sons, and many others to protect the ‘oil that the Bush Clan wanted and couldn’t have’ so they paid off Saudi Arabia to do it for them, hence the ‘28 pages of the 9/11’ report...

It’s all going to come out, why, who, what and when, and the Bushes want the Oval Office to stop it, or a puppet they can control to do it, and Trump isn’t a puppet so that only leaves one person...

SI is the conservative borough of the five, is it not?

Like to hear what the Cruzlims have to say about this. Their song thus far has been: “of course NYC loves him, liberals love their own”.

I believe that there actually are some genuine conservatives on Staten Island. Back in the days when there was an active New York Conservative Party, it is my recollection that many of those in New York City, who made that identification, were in that least populated of the New York Boroughs—many of them among “New York’s finest,” of the breed that responded with real heroism at the time of 9/11. I think that Trump has the potential to alter the New York political landscape, vastly for the better.

It is certainly greater than the number of delegates and party bosses who actually voted in Wyoming. That’s for sure.

Actually I was being sarcastic.

I just find it funny that Big Media, which in 2008 couldn’t stop their non-stop screeching about “Bush’s War”, now says nothing about it because Inevitable Hillary has it quietly hanging around her neck.

Hasn’t come up yet in the campaign, but I’m sure Bernie’s people will get around to mentioning it.

Staten Island!!! Trump!!

I think SI is ground zero for Trump support. I bet that he gets close to 70% there. Nassau, Suffolk and Queens will be a big percentage for Trump too..

I just listened to a robo call from Trump’s daughter that had been left on my phone and it was awesome. It practically gave me a tear and although I am a grandmother I tend to not be sentimental at all so this says a lot.

Go Trump!

Annabel Hill of Waynesboro, Georgia lived a difficult life. At age 66, her husband Lenard killed himself in an attempt to save the family farm with insurance money. But the life insurance didn’t provide nearly enough.

So the farm, which had been in her family for five generations, was scheduled for auction.

But Donald Trump saw the story on NBC Nightly News, and he swung into action! Trump knew that hard-working farmers have made America great, and they deserve our support.

“I saw a story on the news about Annabel Hill, who’d hit bottom,” The Donald writes in his book The America We Deserve.

“It was a very sad situation, and I was moved,” Trump writes in The Art of the Deal. “Here were people who’d worked very hard and honestly all their lives, only to see it all crumble before them. To me, it just seemed wrong.”

Trump reached out to Argenbright, who was able to put Trump in touch with bank that held Hill’s mortgage.

The next morning, I called and got some vice president on the line,” writes Trump. “I explained that I was a businessman from New York, and that I was interested in helping Mrs. Hill. He told me he was sorry, but that it was too late. They were going to auction off the farm, he said, and ‘nothing or no one is going to stop it.’”

It was then, Trump claims, he decided to talk tough to the banker.

According to Trump’s account, he was willing to get rough with the bank. Trump said he yelled at the banker holding the mortgage, “You listen to me. If you do foreclose, I’ll personally bring a lawsuit for murder against you and your bank, on the grounds that you harassed Mrs. Hill’s husband to his death.”

Trump reached out to Atlanta-business Frank Argenbright, and they both put up the money with the Federal Land Bank for a 30-day option to buy the farm. The auction was called off with only two hours to spare!

During that time, a donation drive helped raise the money to pay for the farm, largely thanks to Trump bringing attention to the cause and his connections to radio shows.

“Financially this was obviously no big deal,” writes Trump in The America We Deserve. “But in human terms, there aren’t words to express what Annabel Hill gave to me. Most of us have a few things in life we would never give back, no matter what. Helping Annabel is that way for me.”

Before she passed away, Mrs. Hill said, “The only way I can explain [Donald Trump’s actions] was God touched his heart.”

Mr. Trump at one of his rallies this year got to met the granddaughter of Mrs. Hill, she spoke to the crowd and told this story...

Just some things that Mr. Trump does for American People and never talks about...

70 percent easy. Anywhere else, we’d be huge with 500k people.

But this is NY.

Difference is I think we will turn out big and not stay home.

The Trump supporters I personally know are crazy :)

Some should have been behind bars 20 years ago but thank God they matured and moved on :)

No gentlemen losers in this group though. And they wont take kindly to protestors.

The real hero of Staten Island is Thomas Adams, the inventor of chewing gum!
He helped bring about an important holiday tradition.

SI's CD, CD 11 has 103K registered Republicans. CD's 13 and 14 in the Bronx each have about 14K registered Republicans.

So compared to Republicans in CD's 13 and 14, SI Republicans in CD 11 will have less of a say, because of the way delegates are allocated by CD.

Trump had better call Hillary a Carpetbagger when he starts Campaigning against her in New York in the General Election.
