Romney: 3-man race throws Trump the nomination
CNN ^ | April 18, 2016 | David Gregory

Former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney is again warning his party of the dangers of a Donald Trump nomination, saying a three-man race likely paves the way for the New York billionaire to capture the nomination on the first ballot of this summer's GOP convention in Cleveland.

The former Massachusetts governor, in an interview on "The David Gregory Show" podcast says Tuesday's New York primary is an important moment in the primary fight.

"If (Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Ted Cruz) are both going at it aggressively until the very end then I think Trump gets it on the first ballot," Romney said.

A two-man race isn’t going to stop Trump either, because his share of the support from whoever drops out is going to give him a clear majority rather than the near-majority he has now.

Kasich is not the second choice for most Cruz supporters and vice-versa.

He’s right. All the smart Cruz supporters have been saying this for about 6 weeks now. Trump has a ceiling under 50% but will continue to win many states with a mere plurality when he has multiple opponents splitting the vote. If this race had been one-on-one, Trump vs. Cruz for all of March and April, Trump likely would have been so far behind that he would have dropped out by now.

Most significantly, Kasich being in the race looks like it will hand California to Trump, which will put Trump at or very close to the nomination.

Well the idiot told people to vote for Kasich in Ohio and Cruz in Utah and so on... This was Romney’s idea from the beginning. He should blame himself for being dumb.

Mitt can go away - no one cares about him any more. He still thinks he is relevant. I agree with you - Kasich voters would NOT vote for Cruz.

Kasich is staying in because he thinks he is going to win the nomination after the first ballot.

"My guess is some delegates might like to fly around on Air Trump or perhaps get a membership to Mar-a-Lago," Romney told Gregory

-Wow, mittens tells us what he thinks about Republicans and Republican delegates.

Romney, the guy who in 2012 showed almost ZERO interest in actually winning when it came to 0bama. I kept waiting for him to do something, anything against 0bama, and he didn’t show any willingness to fight. Now, 4 years later, he’s decided that the real threat to the country is Trump.

And that's the line of crap you guys ran about Rubio before he dropped out. Face it, people just don't like Ted Cruz and they're not going to vote for him. All his recent victories came from massive GOPE support designed to stop Trump and he's running out of states where he can count on that.

Yup.
Let Cruz explain how many jobs his corporation has created.

That is one thing I would yell at the top of my lungs if I were Trump.

“HEY TED!” “How many jobs has your corporation created?”

NONE!
