Jackson and James K. Polk are two of our most under-rated Presidents. Without the policies of these men, Mexico would have most of the American SW and the UK would have the Pacific NW. Taking Jackson off the $20 is revisionist crap that would make George Orwell’s Big Brother proud. And I say all of this as someone who has Cherokee ancestors.
Put Elaenor Roosevelt on the $20 and no one will notice the difference.
“Transformation” takes on many guises.
I think they should simply print a new bill, like $25.00 or $40.00 if they are so bound, bent, and determined to put a woman on a bill. I see no need for it, but if they insist, it should be Martha Washington, Abigail Adams, or Dolly Madison.
But wasn’t Jackson the founder of the Democrat Party? ugh
I know of several indians in Oklahoma who will not accept a $20 bill because of Jackson’s image.
