I question whether Islam is even a religion. The Quran seems to me to be more of a cult manual, a political manifesto, or code, much like Bushido is a code. Trying to make it appear to be a religion gives it certain political/non-political advantages.

Just about finished her book “Infidel”. Well worth the read. Wife beating and forced marriages is the rule NOT the exception in Islam. What surprised me is that generally Dutch officials and leaders went out of their way to protect her and her right to free speech. I don’t think she would have had the same sort of support in the US.

Hirsi Ali was speaking at a university a few years ago and some Muslim students had showed up to protest. When female Muslim student shouted: “What gives you the right to insult Islam?”, Hirsi Ali answered: “The First Amendment”.
