GOP donors not enthusiastic about Trump in Nov. election
The Hill ^ | April 20, 2016 | Jonathan Swan

A victorious Donald Trump coming out of the Republican National Convention would have a hard time raising the money he needs to beat the Democratic presidential nominee in November.

Interviews with leading GOP fundraisers, donors and outside conservative groups reveal that Trump is so deeply disliked by large parts of the Republican Party’s donor community that he will have trouble winning their favor in a general election. Then, he’d need more than $1 billion to defeat the money machine of the Hillary Clinton campaign, the presumptive Democratic nominee.

The wealthy elite donors usual buying influence, accesses and ways to build their own family wealth feel slighted.
My heart is just broken for them.
Anyone have an extra thousand for their begging cups?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

They won’t be needed. And we don’t want them.

I voted for Cruz, and still support him...

...but good grief. The author seems to have missed the part about Trump re-writing the playbook. He wouldn’t need a $Billion to beat Hillary. He’s demonstrated how frugal a candidate can be already.

GOP donors not enthusiastic about Trump in Nov. election

________________________________________________

Why should they be? Trump has always denounced the GOP. He has always stood on his own financially as he paid his own way.

IF Trump wins the nomination, does anyone expect the Repubs will suddenly LOVE Donald? And shower him with money?

Heh. He is on his own.

Heck, the big money folks in donnie’s home town of Manhattan can’t stand him and will not contribute. These are his “neighbors” that live and work around him, the professional people that know him the best.

Wouldn’t it be novel to have a President who was not 100% bought and paid for by the “Big Donors”? I have many misgivings about Trump, but his failure to attract bribes from oligarchs is not among them.

Not a problem - Trump is really, really rich - he told us. If he wins the nomination, he can self-fund the general in the same way he is self-funding the primary, and the RNC can focus on funding Senate and House races.

Donald Trump has only to ask his supporters for whatever amount he requires and he will have it. Pretty quickly too.

Donald Trump will not need a Billion to win in November.

Given how he spends money he can just take the Tax Payer funds of about $100 Million and make the thing work without having to take money from any Donors or Special Interests.

Will be interesting to see how much of his wealth Trump will have to use up in the end after it is all over. And after it is over what the after effects and repercussions will be upon his businesses.

The money people in Manhattan you’re talking about?

You’re arguing they won’t support him because they know him and find him lacking in virtues that they practice?

That’s silly

They won’t back him because they depend on out of control illegal immigration.

Not surprised. The donor class is the establishment class. Plus anything coming from thehill.com is suspect right out of the gate but even a blind squirrel will find an occasional acorn.

Oh yeah, real paragons of virtue they are.
