Oklahoma voters will decide in November whether to abolish an article of the state constitution so that a Ten Commandments monument can be returned to the Capitol grounds.

The House voted 65-7 late Thursday for a resolution calling for a statewide vote on whether to remove a constitutional prohibition on the use of state funds to support a religion. The state Supreme Court relied on that section of the constitution in June when it ordered a 6-foot-tall granite Ten Commandments monument moved from the Capitol grounds.

The monument’s removal angered many Oklahomans, particularly Republican lawmakers who vowed to return the monument to state property. …

We should make historical monuments with only an eye to historical and moral significance. Whether or not special signigance to religion is involved should not be given weight. To maintain that having the ten commandments monument should not be allowed because it has religious significance is an attempt to establish a religious test for government action.

Nowadays, if the state does approve a monument to the 10 Commandments, they’ll also need to be ready for the Satanists demanding the same thing. These demands are often followed by nuisance law suits.

Didn’t the Feral courts already decide that they don’t care what the American people want? They’re the roosters in this henhouse.

Har-har! Oklahomans can vote for whatever they want, but the federal government will just come in, tell them they’re all just a bunch of backwater bigots, and force them to remove the monument again anyway, because someone is offended, and besides, they killed all the American Indians, didn’t they?

Yep. Like Adams said, America will only work as long as the populace is moral.
