Most people, I'm sorry to say, do not realize how abysmally ignorant today's students are. There are honors students and valedictorians who can't tell you the names of PA's senators, or the dates of the Civil War, or who was POTUS during WW2. I know numerous people (including two elementary school teachers and a lady with a master's degree in English) who have no idea who Lee Harvey Oswald was, or what year Kennedy died.
