As far as I know, aside from members of many AB municipal fire departments helping to knock down hotspots in the city, there are forest fire fighting teams from ON and water bombers from ON, NF and QU. More are arriving each day. The fire is now closing in on Saskatchewan, though it has been grown more slowly than anticipated.
Neither BC or MB could send any firefighters because of wildfires in BC and Manitoba. A major fire in the Fort St. John, BC area has moved into AB, but the BC firefighters are battling that one, to give the AB firefighters the chance to focus on McMurray.
With a strong el Ninõ this past winter, it has been a mild and dry winter in Western Canada. I suspect the same for the US West and mid-West, so this may be a BAD year for forest fires in the Western part of North America.
Yes it will be a bad year for many. Up here I know it will be. Hardly any snow this winter. Thank you for info. Prayers.
