Fort McMurray is about 235 miles NNE of Edmonton, so it can get VERY cold in the winter. Unlike Calgary, Fort McMurray does not get chinooks. Being so far North, it has even shorter days than Edmonton in the winter, though in the summer, an unrushed 18 hole round of golf can be started at 8:00PM, with no problem.
When I was there during the summer I could read in my tent at 12 o’clock at ‘night’ by the light in the sky.
