Seventeen GOP presidential contenders pledged to support the eventual nominee, but now presumptive nominee Donald Trump is calling out former establishment darling Jeb Bush for not honoring that pledge.
"Jeb Bush signed a pledge and basically it says Im gonna support the person who wins the Republican primaries right? And it said that very strongly and he signed the pledge and now he says hes not going to honor the pledge. Thats very dishonorable. I think he should honor it. Even if he doesnt love me. And its hard for him to like me. But remember this, look, I hit him hard. Do we agree? Alright. Who cares? I mean I hit a lot of people hard and theyre like, my friends now. And they hit me hard."
Bush posted to Facebook on Friday a message that included the statement, In November, I will not vote for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton, but I will support principled conservatives at the state and federal levels, just as I have done my entire life.
At the first Fox News Republican presidential debate last August, each of ten candidates were asked if they were not willing to commit to supporting the eventual Republican nominee. Trump was the only one to say he was not yet ready to make that commitment.
Trump did take the pledge last September.
The RNC pledge that each candidate is said to have committed to reads, I [name] affirm that if I do not win the 2016 Republican nomination for president of the United States I will endorse the 2016 Republican presidential nominee regardless of who it is. I further pledge that I will not seek to run as an independent or write-in candidate nor will I seek or accept the nomination for president of any other party.

“Since 1989 the party has been adrift as the Uniparty RINOS have steered it straight into the rocks of political peril.”
Uniparty RINOs, many of whom professed to be “conservatives” in order to bull$hit their constituents into voting for them. And FWIW, in many cases we can blame the Tea Party for not vetting candidates they offered up, or worse yet turning a blind eye to serious quirks these people have. Can you say Ben Sasse, Paul Ryan?
obama renigs on everything he says. Ha ha I made a joke using spelling.
The Donald is some kind of truth serum raining over DC.
You and me both. The doors and windows of the GOPe have been thrown wide open by Mr Trump. We all expected some of dishonesty hidden behind those doors. But I don’t think any of us really knew how bad it was. People that had a little trust have been shown to be charlatans.
Was the shot of JEB! and the Senora photo shopped?
It must have been, there are all sorts of serious psychological Bush problems if it is real.
Anyone got a link to the wording of the pledge that Bush agreed to abide by? For future reference a promise of a politician has no value unless it is bonded by some real monetary instrument. Thus if I write “worthless promise” then you will know what I mean. I am tired of politicians making promises which they have no integrity about honoring.
The second shot of her I believe has her size reduced, but not NEARLY as much as would be reasonable to suspect.
She has been reduced just 15-19% in that shot where she’s directly in front of him.
Walking hand in hand —that shot is HONEST, no shopping.
He was doing that to get votes not much honor in politicians, most and I say most, their words are meaningless
who is this jeb you speak of?
Jeb! dishonorable..It’s a good thing we found out now, BEFORE he was elected to office. With any luck at all, he’s sealed his fate from any further elections.
I can tell by his lyin’ that he’s from the other side.
"...read my lips...no new taxes".
What the hell is it with this family? Are they all so stupid and arrogant that they think nobody will notice? Apparently, so.
Thanks, now the photos are only VERY disturbing.
I think eventually, the Bushes will change their tune, and offer support to Trump, however tepid. Donald wisely chose his word in order to cast judgement about them. No establishment dynasty like the Bushes want to be thought of as ‘dishonorable’. Such a charge will damage their brand for the millions of conservatives who (rightly or wrongly) still revere that family.
Not supporting the nominee is way down on the list of reasons why JEB is dishonorable.
Jeb (and others) don’t see the irony of their refusal to honor the pledge.
Republicans breaking campaign promises is one of the main reasons voters chose Trump over the professional pols he ran against.
So what is their response to Trump’s impending victory?
To break their pledge to support the republican nominee!
Remember how they all carried on when Trump hesitated to sign the pledge?
But Bush and others just jumped right in and signed the pledge thinking that Trump could never become the nominee.
Now they show us that they were just grandstanding and never intended to honor their promise.
W is no better than the rest of them. He coined the phrases “Religion of Peace” and “doing the jobs Americans won’t do.” He’s also the one who started the current out of control expansion of the federal government and issued almost no vetoes while he was in office.
Sad, very sad...
Laura said on a T.V. program that she was voting for Hillary, so that pretty well set the stage, but I really didn’t think this would happen...
Prescott Bush, GHWB’s father worked with Hitler, so now that I know some of the Bushes background, it clears up a lot of things in my mind...
The Bushes/ Romney and others are called ‘turncoats’ and should be treated as such...
Wonder if he does his tipey-toes thing around his wife to show himself what a big ‘man’ he is.
