All right.....

Devils Advocate here(...ha...)

Lets just say the gals got together before the hat toss and one says ‘Hey remember Tommy Smith’ and the guys at the Olympics that gave the BP salute after winning?

That would make a fine picture. Lets do it. We accomplished something.

Fair Enough.

NOW , lets say Robert E Lee Pruitt stands with a bunch of fellow Mississippians or ‘Southerners’ with a MS state flag, with all pointing at the ‘Confederate Battle Flag’ corner of it, and all are smiling with their arms extended.

Not so fair is it ???

I may be ‘dreaming’ here but the other evening news had BO at the Graduation Ceremony at Howard U (Predominantly Black Univ in DC). At the end of the item, it showed his last couple of words and he raised his hands (Maybe ala Nixon “I am not a crook”??) and his hands were out of camera range.

I ‘swear’ as the bit ended and his arms were being lowered that he ‘opened his left hand’ (As in unclenching a FIST???)

Granted I usually fast forward whenever it/he is on but I had looked up near the end and thought I saw the ‘fist action’. I ran it back a few times but it was inconclusive - Of course I ‘wanted’ to see the clenched fist....soooooo...

I looked at that picture and wondered if taken in context it's okay. In West Point yearbook photos, sometimes there will be casual pictures of groups, not just formal ones. I'm wondering if these girls are part of a group. They seem to be wearing confederate uniforms. It might have be a "you've come a long way" statement and the black power salute from those Mexico City games (a long time ago) may not have the meaning to them that it does to us.

I agree with you. They made a politically incorrect statement that offended some people. Maybe we should ALL be less offended about freedom of expression.

If, instead, it were a "black lives matter" sign, I'd be offended. All lives matter, and that whole movement is racist and deranged.
